I was getting upset earlier today on how one of my fondest moments with my girlfriend was her experiencing Science Fiction for the first time in my room, while I had already listened to it like 10+ times, but I remembered like an hour ago that she hasn't listened to JEW that much to be familiar with them (only Futures twice or so) so we decided that we're going to reclaim that moment from Jesse and listen to the albums together.

Through the span of how long it takes this (one day, multiple days, weeks, etc.), I'm going to spin Integrity Blues first, then Futures, and then go through their discography in chronological order starting from Clarity. I think Integrity Blues is a good place to start as it's their most recent and a good snapshot of what they've accomplished. I'm going Futures second, instead of first, as I want her "first album experience" to be with an album she doesn't know at all.

Didn't wanna start with Clarity as imo it's not as accessible without knowing the scope of the band and I don't want to lose her from the get go. If she doesn't get Clarity like I did at first, there's always the rest of the discography to delve into.

Once she finds her favorite, we'll spend a lot of time with that! We're both super excited.

I've probably missed the peak time to post this since it's 1am here but anyone in the UK with tattoos they're not feeling great about living up north may want to consider this

Also why has the break up statement not come through yet because these guys are 100000% done and Jesse deserves to rot in a cell for the rest of his days

Reposting b/c we're stuck with two of the new sweatshirts as well. Really comfortable, the hand of God design we can deal with, but that lettering has to go or these are getting thrown out.

Been mostly listening to Restorations. But also, I've been connecting with my inner Scottish(I'm not actually Scottish) and listening to one of my favorite albums, by There Will Be Fireworks.

Now I Know This World Isn’t Spinning Just For Me Prestigious

I just want to say a few things that have been rattling on my brain the past few days.

    1. Nobody blame yourselves. We all loved this band before the truth came to light; many of us had Merch, bought their albums, looked up to them, went to their shows, some got tattoos etc, but we did that because we associated the songs with our own personal experiences, our feelings. Not because of the whicked man behind the mirror. Like Jason said in his post, keep your memories and cherish them. This is not to say that it’s ok to turn a blind eye, but what you had was personalized. I personally can not listen to Brand New for a long time, most likely ever again. But if you aren’t ready to do that or choose not to for personal reasons, do not feel bad. And those who feel bad for their past support of the band; Don’t. You weren’t the one committing these heinous acts.

    2. Looking at this website over the past few days, @Jason Tate you really have created something wonderful here. We use this website and these threads daily to express our love and joy for music, debate our opinions, etc. but in what some may consider a dark hour in this music genre, this lifestyle, the people of this website have pretty much banded together as an emotional support collective for eachother. Everyone is mourning this in their own way, and wanting to express their frustration, their hurt for the victims and the people effected by this. And this place has become a haven of sorts for all of us, it was before this weekend and it will be after this weekend. A lot of us are moving through this situation because of the support around here.

    3. First and foremost, we have to remember the true sufferers in this situation. The victims. If there is any solace to be found in this mess, it’s that while their pain is still there, they no longer have to suffer in silence. They can speak out against him, and others now. It does not change what happened to those women, but now they don’t have to bite their tongues with fear of ridicule. While there are those idiots like the ones on reddit, there are countless others who are ready to denounce the monsters and be there for them.

    End rambling

So, after being out of the scene for awhile now and only really browsing the entertainment forum, I need a new favorite band.

Any suggestions? Should I dive headfirst into Thrice?

Yes. In the Boston date that I went to Jesse said something along the lines of "We came out with a new record. There's a song on it that's my favorite and I think it's the best song we've ever written. Actually, it was written by Vin." and then they started playing SL/T.

I second this. Especially Pneuma, Foreword, and their split with Prawn.
