Really sucks that Brand New got to live a full career with a predator lead singer. The band should have never been able to release Deja, Devil, Daisy, Science Fiction. The band should be disbanded years ago. Such crap.

 

So just had an email from Ticketmaster.

London show - cancelled and refund automatically processed.
Glasgow - postponed, keep hold of tickets?! Wtf.

 

Just to follow this up they've just released a statement

 

Good on them for addressing it quickly. Luke is disgusting, but respect to the other 3.

 

Good statement, also, and i know this is small, but they already changed their photo to one without him. Good move.

That’s weird. I still have my Glasgow tickets obviously but still, why can’t they just automatically refund Glasgow date. It’s not like anyone will be able to use them.

 

Wow this is the quickest I think I've ever seen a band resolve an allegation like this. Good on them.

 

Sometimes if dates are postponed you’re able to get a refund...I very much doubt it will be rescheduled though so why not just say it’s cancelled.

 

The With Con guitarist always came across as a creep. Glad he's gone but those screenshots are repulsive. Almost beyond belief but also not in the least bit surprising at the same time.

 

I still predict there will be a final show in 2018.. no idea where or how many people will come out but I think they will want to stick to their ending in 2018 schtick. If they used a different lead singer would people come out? I don't know how you could do that but maybe bring in a bunch of people. Kevin Devine, Andy Hull, Dustin Kensrue.... people who have been close with the band over the years.

 

I don't know if they can sing these lyrics knowing what they could possibly mean.

I know I've had Jesus stuck in my head and in the water and waste the past 3 days and so many of the lyrics could be about disgusting illegal things.

Was thinking this myself. The only way I could see this happening is if the band donated all money made from any such shows to charities or indeed the victims directly affected by Jesse’s actions. The bare minimum I know but that’s all I could think of. Although I’m not sure they’d even accept money from them.

 

Hopefully once they realise a new date is not forthcoming they will issue refunds.

 

I'm trying not to do the whole "use lyrics to assume" stuff but goddamn the first verse of Jesus feels so fucked up right now.

In The Water I think is a bit better in that I think it's him reacting to how he used to be in the context of having a daughter now. And realizing just how messed up he was. The "Drowning in the praise" line feels pretty truthful, though it's def more of the "Woe is me" attitude.

 

It's probably been said a lot in here, but getting the limited vinyl is going to feel like such a slap in the face when it comes.

 

The idea that people wouldn't show up to a final Brand New show is so laughable. The show would sell out just as quick as their final show already would've. I bet you at least 70% of their fanbase is unaware or simply doesn't care about this. (And that's not a knock on BN's fans specifically - this would be the case for many bigger bands).

 

Actually not surprised. That Luke dude seemed like such a wiener when I caught their set opening up for State Champs some months back.

 

Agree, in the water may have been written while or after getting help, but everything pre sci-fi is tainted with this.

Jesus makes me sick right now. And I haven't been able to get it out of my head.

 

Why do I keep making the mistake of looking at the Facebook comments? This world truly is a terrible place with terrible people.

 

i was wondering about this as well, how many people are out there that still don't know about it? This band doesn't have the public exposure and coverage that someone like kevin spacey or harvey weinstein have, so not nearly as many news outlets will cover it and expose the story, which leads me to fear that this will, in short time, just get forgotten and swept away.

 

People would totally show up. Look at those Facebook comments, so many people just don't give a shit.
