for there to be traction legally on the issue of Nicole being a minor, does the report have to come from her? I guess I'm curious if from a legal standpoint any type of criminal action can be taken without her reporting it/providing the evidence she says she has. Otherwise I feel like it makes totally sense for him not to mention anything specific.

In my opinion, it's a personal decision only one can make themselves. No different than it being a personal decision for his wife to stay with him or not. I'm not sure if I'll have the same relationship with their music yet-- but I won't shun anyone who does, or decides they can't. The music remains the same, and if it continues to mean something to someone how could you discredit that? It's not "simple" by any means, but it's also not complicated. Enjoying the music he created does not support his actions. I pray that the victim(s?) can find peace first and foremost, but I appreciate anyone who could recognize behavior and work to make a change to prevent this from happening more and more. It's never too late to change. You can't go back and re-do your past, and you can't necessarily make things any easier on the victims, but the very best thing one can do is admit they have a problem and NEVER fucking do it again. By NO means does it make his behavior any less disgusting, but I don't think it's fair to ridicule someone for choosing to move forward listening to their music. We are all adults, and we can make that decision ourselves.

Alright, I don’t think I’m boycotting BN or anything. I would have liked this to have not been true. But it’s very important to me that he has already been getting professional help for this long before he was actually outed. The way I have always made the distinction between”good” and “bad” people is; “good” people genuinely feel bad when they do bad. “Bad” people don’t give a shit when they do. I don’t want to burn someone at the stake for something they’ve been working on in their personal life for years. But I get why a lot will boycott the band.

If there is no physical evidence of him exposing himself to a minor, the only way he could be held accountable in a court of law would be if the victim reported it herself. Any report about the incidents coming from any other persons mouth would be considered hearsay.

Ooof, patents are not my area of expertise. In fact, patents can be so complicated that most patent law firms require their attorneys have backgrounds in science as well.

Only legal work I've ever done is in music licensing. But I'm honestly in the process of making a drastic career change. Being a lawyer sucks lol.

 

In NC, it’s 16 OR 4 years. So 16 can do whatever the fuck with who ever. But 14-15 can only do whatever with someone 18-19.

 

All of Same Logic/Teeth is so hard to even think about after this. I identified with it more than any other song on the album and the lyrics hit me like a ton of bricks every time I hear them. Now so many of them seem to be specifically written about this behavior and it just sickens me. I traveled 5 hours to sing that song at the top of my lungs just a few weeks ago.
