I don't listen to this band often. Just when I do, it's heavy.

Also after seeing their anniversary show, feeling such a positive energy from it, and meeting a ton of nice people there, I'm feeling Trophy Scars as my favorite band now. Buy also the 1975 as always. We'll call it a tie

It's all tainted. Haven't been able to listen to anything, certainly not Brand New.

It was certainly a different head space, but how the song reverberates with me is my own world, my own experience. I tried to keep that in mind. Granted, it was only that song. So who knows what will happen with songs off of Deja that are more realistically inductive of the allegations.

I wouldn't listen to deja to begin with, I don't think it holds up.:speakno:

Been in this boat for a while now. Not that it has any relevance on this incident either, but I feel like I was pretty disappointed by SciFi upon release. Not gonna knock anyone that really liked it (and I did like it), but it just didn't live up to the quality of the couple albums before it.

I listened to ABMTTS on my run this morning and the new Owel release twice today.

And lots of Sesame Street and Muppets songs. You know, for the kids.

I also forgot to mention Big Thief. Capacity is an absolutely wonderful and moving album.

i got the SciFi cd yesterday in the mail since the universe loves to mess with me

i put it on this morning in the car to see how i felt, and i made it through a few songs, but this was on my mind the entire time. i definitely cannot see myself writing off the music and never listening again, the music has meant far too much to my personal life, but it may get shelved for some time. i dont think id be able to sit through an entire album play right now.

I’ve been listening to podcasts, mostly.

The High & Love set feels so tainted tbh. I have never felt more love at a concert than I did at that show. A group of us, complete strangers, had our arms around each other during Jesus Christ, we screamed along with each other, we gave each other hugs and said we loved each other after the show. I cried during In The Water. Like, I know those feelings were real and this doesn’t change that, but in retrospect it does feel...I’m not sure if “dirty” is the word, but...fraudulent I guess

Yea... I know I’ll be back at some point but I wonder if I’ll ever be able to listen and not think about it.

But those memories and experiences are YOURS. Those are real things that happened to YOU. Don’t feel like you’ve done wrong by enjoying art. Don’t blame yourself.

i really think how they respond to this is going to shape how my longterm relationship with the music turns out.

Without dipping too deep into hyperbole, Julien Baker is the best thing that has happened to me musically (and otherwise, who am I kidding) in the last couple years.

Nothing but Julien Baker on repeat in the past 24 hours or so.

Right now I feel like all the other bands that were my "go to happy" are sooner or later going to come to light an abuser of some sort. And yes I know it's not actually true but hi I'm jaded and bitter

No, I’m not blaming myself in any way, and I really cherish the way I felt during that show but it does feel blemished for sure. Brand New was also my first concert with my best friend and my sister back in 2007 and that was a huge bonding experience for us I’m just like noooooooo.

To be honest though, I feel like me being upset about stuff like this is a little selfish, when compared to like actual victims in this scenario, ya know?

Hi jaded and bitter, I'm sad and angry.

No but seriously, I feel that way about the entire emo/pop punk scene right now. I'm in a pretty pessimistic mood right now.

You're not selfish. You have every right to feel things.
