I feel like this is the start of a BIG storm of allegations. I've heard some rumors about members of prominent metalcore bands; Oli Sykes, Austin Carlile, etc.

 

Yeah I understand it from your point of view completely. Makes sense because you don't run a tabloid here and both his daughter and stepson could google that sort of thing and your site in the future. Damn that's a messed up thing to think about/realize with this news

 

Well Oli has previous doesn’t he, didn’t he piss on a girl against her will in the back of a tour bus back when they were still quite a small band.

In 2010 the members of austin carlile's old band released a statement saying he's a pretty scummy person and slept with underage girls. I've also seen multiple people who have worked warped tour claim he's a rapist/pedo. I don't think these claims have ever been dismissed.

Also the situation with Oli Skyes is very similar to Jesse’s a few days ago. Like everyone knows he’s kinda shitty but people overlook it because I guess he hasn’t done anything technically illegal yet (that we know of!)

 

Is this related to Jesse? Don't really know if Underoath/The Almost ever really had much to do with the band, not that that should be the prerequisite.

 

Unless I missed something, I'm going to say nothing and they should not be a part of this convo.

I like UO fine but what is shit like this trying to accomplish? Meaningless drivel in an already overcrowded conversation.

 

What is this even about? It's so vague

 

I'm sure he's consulting with lawyers/PR if/before they release anything. I'm not sure of the legality of the situation, like if he does admit to this could he be charged, etc. it unfortunately isn't as simple as we'd all like it to be.

 

Consider the possibility it has nothing to do with this. He’s his own person after all and it could be referring to anything.

 

And even if Aaron's comment was related to this, the fact that he doesn't directly state so shows cowardness and so all it does is come off as an empty gesture

 

Carlile there’s definitely been rumors about for a long time.

 

I’m willing to bet that it’s because they've caught word there’s a major story from a big publication about this coming. If that’s the case they’re probably waiting until after that’s out.

 

Well at this point I would think they'd prefer to get in front of such a story and admit all his wrongdoings before the bomb drops.

 

I have an extremely hard time imagining Aaron Gillespie talking about Jesse Lacey. Do those dudes even know each other? I know UO shared a label with mewithoutyou, who know BN. But that's a stretch.

More likely Aaron is talking about Trump's Putin comments with a tweet like that than Jesse Lacey. My social media feeds are filled with that, and barely anyone even knows the Brand New stuff is a thing.

 

It’s crazy to think that he made decisions that would end up killing his career when his career had barely just started (2002). Hope this serves as a lesson to everyone entering this industry (and everyone just in general). Stop doing this shit. You won’t get away with it.

 

I would hope so... or maybe if they know a story is coming they’ll release a statement for the article when contacted. We shall see.

Its amazing how many songs on that album have pulled me through a variety of shitty times.
