Both are so equally out of control!!!

 

Idk it just seems to be when news is usually released for things... I could be wrong just making a guess

 

I feel like they would have posted by now if they were going to do so today.

 

I think that professional help has to be mentioned in the statement. I want to know that he has worked to fix what is wrong with him or is going to work to fix it. I think that’s important just for him to be allowed to be a member of our society...

 

This is not about sex addiction. This is about power. There is a huge difference; and your resistance to acknowledge that power and dominance over another person, much less a minor, is the reason victims get silenced.

Everyone else in this thread has been great for the most part. I mostly read and rarely post, and I feel like chorus community is generally a supportive place. Thanks to those who have contributed to that. I'm out for awhile though. My heart aches for the victim (probably victims in this case), and I hope they are safe.

This is not related specifically but can anyone tell me what was mentioned about Andy Hurley on that post? I didn't see it before it went private and that comment a few pages ago has me super worried.

 

Which really isn't relevant. Cheating on your spouse is a personal moral question. It personally doesn't align with my moral leanings and sensibilities, but some people are different than me. He isn't the first band dude to cheat on his wife. I don't really think that conflating sexual misconduct allegations with infidelity is really productive, or helps prevent future abuse at all. If the allegations were simply that he cheated on his wife I really wouldn't care and could write it off as a personal issue. I don't think any of us thought Jesse was a nice guy before this surfaced, so I am just kinda baffled why people are bitching about infidelity now.

 

I hope you eventually come back. You're a quality poster and your insights are appreciated.

I just want to log off and think about something else, for the sake of my own mental health, but my cat is named Luca. Don't want to have to think about a sexual predator when I look at my baby boy. I'm so pissed.

 

For the band and Jesse to issue a detailed statement, similar to Louie CK that basically cops to everything and explains why this shit is so toxic and cancel the remaining dates. I personally think the ship has sailed on these allegations being bullshit, because it seems like its been kind of an "inside baseball" secret among Long Island and scene dudes that Jesse did this, so any kind of denial, victim blaming or especially complete silence would be totally unsatisfactory IMO.

 

This seems... Harder to believe. Andy has been straight edge for as long as I can remember, even pre fob. Anything is possible I guess.

 

I have been through a 12 step program and been sober 2 and a half years. Yes you make amends in that program but it ABSOLUTELY does not justify or excuse you from your past. Ive known people who commited horrible crimes in their addiction and their amends were to serve time in jail, get out, and never live that way again. They weren’t excused for what they had done because they were hooked on drugs. They had to pay the price, accept the consequence, change, and be okay with the fact that some people may never forgive them.

Also, even labeling this as a sex addiction is pretty asinine.

He's in a band with someone like Pete Wentz. I'd believe anything.

 

He replied with a smiley face on twitter to the original post basically saying "hey, anybody out Jesse yet?". He might have deleted it since. I think he could have been more constructive than that, but I took that as a "finally somebody come forward about this guy". I guess these are the perils of the internet and social media age, where we're trying to figure out what a smiley face means.

 

Nothing specific from what I saw, just a general question about what happened at his house back in the day with lots of parties, underage kids, and alcohol.

 

Yup. Exactly how I interpreted it. I just wish he would have said "Yes, we have witnessed this and do not approve of him or his actions". The smiley face kinda makes it seem like its a light hearted or silly topic, when it really is serious, even if he has spent the last 15 years hating Jesse.

 

Ican still see Brian Diaz’s Facebook post, by the way. Iknow some people said he privatized it, but it’s still showing on my end with comments still being made.

 

Thanks to both of you. I managed to find the post, not sure why I couldn't last night. I didn't realize exactly who Brian was until now either. I've met that guy a few times years ago and seen him working at countless shows.

Is it possible to show sympathy to the victim and absolute horror at the charges and then still withhold judgment until facts and evidence are provided?

 

Just realized I saw TDAG in full exactly one year ago today...bummer.
