how can anyone listen to the lyrics of YFW/Deja and be surprised by this?

 

I’ve read books and seen movies far more fucked up than those lyrics and never thought the authors did those things. It’s not like the lyrics come out and say “I want 15 year old girl nudes.” Some scream manipulation and abuse in other ways we’ve all talked about before, but a 15 year old? Didn’t see that being there.

 

The only time I've had that thought was reading American Psycho. Definitely felt the mysogyny there. While the lyrics to Yfw are not worth defending, they're more a staple of the 90s-00s macho-sensitive-dude image than a red flag of abuse, to me. Which is why I'm surprised, @cwhit

Strangely, what is giving me hope as I go to bed is hearing that Trump is looking to remove tax exemptions for the church of Scientology. Given their defense of known rapists, abusers, and every other kind of rotten bastards under the sun, that gives me some small peace. Who knows if anything will come of it, but hey, it's a start.
