She said it started when she was 15, as in being coerced to send nudes. Doesnt say how long it went on, so it very well couldve escalated to Skype when that became available

I would be such a hypocrite not to denounce them the same way I have others on here. I'm so bothered by my affinity for their music all these years and it does feel like a relationship in my life tainted.

Music is my outlet, Brand New is the sound and shape of my musical influence and the way I want to/try to write music. Jesse harmed women mentally for sexual pleasure, one of which was a teen. How do I feel proudly now with my shirt off? 5 years from now when this is just a known part of history and people ask me why I have this tattoo, what do I say? "Yeah I didn't know he was a P.O.S. then....heh."

Fuck everything man, I thought this year had a crazy turnaround starting with Science Fiction. I wanna go to bed.

This lyric seems to take on a much darker meaning, now.

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of the band, but if this was a band I had a deep personal connection with, I still can't imagine listening to them after an accusation like this without the art being seriously tainted. You can try separating art from artist but you can't separate artist from deed, and I don't want to be reminded of that when I'm listening to something.

 

With all due respect, none of that means shit. Yes, better see some personal accountability and apologies, but not even worrying about that until there’s a sign of remorse and an attempt to repair or do whatever it takes. Only concerned with the victims and how they feel and what they’ve been through.

Just think about how they probably had to relive all of this as a surprise when all we are hear and see is “OMG NEW BN ALBUM!”

He was their guitar tech I read earlier in this thread.

 

Played in The Reunion Show, toured with the band, was guitar tech for a while for a variety of bands.

 

Not like Diaz to randomly (need to) make that up either.

I think over all, the core of our community is handling this really well. The news post is to be expected, but like, the regulars like all of us in here are handling this pretty well i think. Not that like, we matter or are relevant to this at all - this is about a victim.... but let’s be real this band means a lot to a lot of us, and most of us arnt tolerating this. Which is good.
