I will try those first 3 songs and then the album with the stupidly long title and decide whether I continue from there.

Das dope. To be honest, I’d prefer to teach high school, but if I wanna teach literature in Japan, university is really the only option

Haha that sounds fair (and yea I purposely typed it all out because it's fun). But it's also worth noting that even if you're not into it after those three, you should at least listen to a song or two from each of the next ones because that's when their sound starts dramatically shifting.

I say go straight for Semptiternal then the new one. Then work your way back.

See I don't love Sempiternal as much as everyone else, but actually this is probably a better opinion. I do think it's worth listening to those 3 songs first though, just for the background.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

Oli's vibrato during "I think we're doomed" is decidedly wonderful. The expectations for That's The Spirit were misplaced, simply move your musical tastes laterally a tad and that album is super.

Sempiternal was a garbage follow up to there is a hell

Whether I prefer sempiternal or there is a hell depends on whether I’m feeling the more electronic vibe or straighter heavy more that day. I don’t think one has significantly higher highs or lower lows than the other. I will say there is a hell has more songs I always skip.

I'd say the song on sempi where oli busts out the c word is a pretty obvious low point between the two

I've said it a dozen times on this site, but the rolling double bass pedal kicks on There Is A Hell are just frenetic in the best way. Matt Nicholls's true effort went into those tracks.
