Nah I would be too busy telling everyone how literally 10/10 that EP is.

 

I actually prefer Pain to the other 3 I'd mentioned

It's not that any of them are bad songs, it just seemed to me like after they got big (circa The Middle and Hear You Me) there was this internal effort to show a grittier side right off the bat and not get pigeonholed as this poppy power ballad band. Hence usually leading off with a harder-edged tune that isn't really representative of the album it came on.

Actually I take that back, My Best Theory is one of their poorer songs to my ears. Something about the guitar is very cheeseball and lazy and the lyrics are a whiff ("So many questions and the answers come back unanswered".. lol wut)

"Pain," "My Best Theory," and "Get Right" are all jams, but are still songs that would be bottom three on their respective albums for me.

 

Get Right is bottom three, My Best Theory is fairly middling, and Pain is more like top five

 

"Pain" is definitely the best of those three, but the rest of Futures is so good that it gets pushed down the list a bit.

 

I think I’ve decided that Futures is 2/3 fantastic, 1/3 total meh. And before you ask, there’s a lot wrong with me.

Tbh I forgot littlething existed but I relistened and I'm kind of in love with it??? I was totally gonna vote for Theory before. Jimmy Eat World is my favorite band tho so sometimes I think a song is my fave or better cause I just heard it last and I'm like omg it's amazing I've seen all the light!! But if I listened to My Best Theory rn I'd prob think the same thing of it and wanna change my vote smh indecisive.
