Fantastic. Will be checking these out. Haven't messed around with a lot of this home automation stuff, but now with the holidays approaching, going to give it a shot with some lighting around the house.

  4. I replaced the wall dimmers in most of the rooms and it's really cool. Not just with the HomeKit and Home app, which I use a lot, but it also works with Alexa if you get one of those. Having Home on my Control Center and quickly hitting the lights have become like second nature.

Love me some "Movie Lights" haha.

That sounds really cool. Is it a pretty simple install?

  6. Very easy IMO. I had no problems.

Awesome, thanks for the info! This is going to be great when I get it set up.

  8. I bought one on a whim, to try it out, and figured I'd return it if I hated it. Ended up blowing my mind and I immediately asked for more for my birthday and then put them everywhere. Haha. The ones I got for the walls even have a little extra remote, so I hid one behind the bed night stand, and one under the side table by the TV, so no matter where we are we don't have to get up to turn on or off lights anymore. Can read in bed and turn them off, or as we're walking out the door turn everything off via the app. It's one of the few things I'm really glad I did and works as well as I could hope. Usually with that kinda thing you end up being disappointed. (I had a WeMo switch a while back and it didn't work at all, the tech just wasn't there yet I guess. But these exceeded my expectations where I actually like having them everywhere.)

I've also heard good things about these bulbs:

Wireless and smart lighting by Philips | Meet Hue

From the tech people I follow. I've never tried them though.

Haha you've got quite the set up there. Sounds awesome. Now this is me just being completely ignorant on the matter, but basically, does one of those dimmers/switches replace an existing light switch, and then work with your existing lighting?

  10. The light switches replace an existing switch. Turn off the breaker, pop it off, connect the wires, put it back on.

They also have plug devices that work with lamps. So you just plug a regular lamp into the device, and then the device into the wall.

Sweet. Sounds simple enough. Definitely excited to give this a shot.

  14. Big fan of the X's camera. The cats don't enjoy being photographed as much though:

Reading this forum is 100x easier on this screen than any other screen I’ve used. Between the size and the pure clarity of the screen, this thing is perfect for chorus.

I've always stayed away from the Plus models because I thought they were too big, even though the screen size, camera and added battery life was interesting. Now the X is just perfect for me.

I do not understand the appeal of a folio case for a phone, like, at all...

I'm having an issue with AirDrop on my new phone trying to drop something from my Mac. I was on contacts only on my phone, changed it to everyone and still i'm not visible to drop something from the Mac. I'm only running El Capitan and not High Sierra, is that the problem?

I have the same issue. I hadn't rebooted until the security update I just installed, and now it works again.

okay, so i keep my itunes/apple music library stored on my external hard drive. Is there a way I can default to have iTunes play the songs from the cloud/stream them whenever my HDD isn't connected? Instead, anytime I wanna listen to my library but don't wanna plug in my HDD it asks me to locate the file for each individual song before it plays

nvm, select all songs, right click, "remove download," "keep files." cool

AirDrop has always been a buggy feature. It doesn’t always ‘just work’ as people in Apple land like to claim.
