Anyone tried to figure it out yet on guitar? This is an extremely rough sketch of the song. I think he tunes the high e string down half a step, but that also doesn't feel right. I'm confident about the notes, but the actual voicing of the chords is still alluding me.

 

I vote we keep you and get rid of @cwhit. You’re 100x better than him already

 

this reminds me a lot of Meridian but even better and im so here for this song

 

Agreed that its closer in feel to Meridian than Cardinal.

The a uses a sharp 4 at times on the picked part

And I think the a voicing is open 5 7th fret on the d 6th fret on the g and 5th fret on the b occasionally throwing in the 4th

 

Song is brilliant, of course. Expected nothing less. Can’t. Wait.

 

A little off topic, but has anyone else listened to their Daytrotter session? It is so good, especially Then Again and The Metronome.

 

Also, I read that Dead Oceans is only doing the UK/EU distribution on the record and RFC is still handling everything in the states. Thoughts?

the "fine you're right, but I wonder what it feels like not feeling so alive" part? I feel like that is pretty universally adored from PG fans, haha. Especially the live version where Evan whacks out while singing it.

Yeah, i mean it's cool and it's some nice breathing space after the intensity of the actual song before New Friends closes things out, but I struggle to see it as something to be actively excited about in it's own right.

But hey, I guess that's the beauty of music, small things can be a big deal to people, and thats cool.

 

idk. I feel like it's just a special little moment we don't get to hear live or on any other versions of the song. I always forget it exists because I never listen to Cardinal, so when I do hear it it's such a pleasant surprise.

 

the little noodling around is cool, and the part in Intrepid before "that good middle" kind of does the same thing, so that's cool.

 

Imagine telling someone they can't feel a way about a part because it's "just an outro." You guys are a strange bunch in this thread.
