Bernie's not getting the nomination, but its nice to get a few more wins leading up to the convention.

If they really want to win just make him VP, but I highly doubt that will happen.

A win for Bernie would show that even though mathematically he can't win the nomination, it shows that he still has a a lot of support and just increases the chances of a contested convention. Something to point out is that Indiana is an open primary, so if he wins that definitely played some influence, just like last week when he won Rhode Island (well technically that one was semi-closed). But it helps him make the case to super delegates that independents are strongly on his side, and they make up almost half of registered voters.

Um no. If we're really talking about HRC than her policies and rhetoric are worse than even President Bush's.
speaking after a meeting with the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, Bush said: "There should be an end to the occupation that began in 1967. An agreement must establish Palestine as a homeland for the Palestinian people, just as Israel is a homeland for the Jewish people
    ...
Referring to Israel, which has refused to rule out further construction in the West Bank, he said the US has "made our concerns about settlements known". He stressed a Palestinian state had to consist of contiguous territory if it was going to be viable and said "Swiss cheese isn't going to work."

He also told the media it was in Israel's interests if the Palestinians strengthened and modernised their security forces.

"To the extent Israel's actions have undermined the effectiveness of the force and the authority of the state, that is something we don't agree with and have made our position clear."
In terms of rhetoric, we've almost certainly moved backwards from where we were with Bush under the Obama administration, and no doubt that a person who is greatly responsible for that is Clinton in her role as Secretary of State.

To your second point, the radicalism of that GOP president reinforces the brutality that comes when a "more rational" liberal takes over.

To your first point, the difference lies ,not in the content, but the degree to which racism and white supremacy is concealed. Both are dangerous because they don't deal with the source of the racial antagonisms. Remember how Obama's election gave way to the idea of a post-racial America that, ideologically, functioned as a tool to discard all grievances brought forth by people of color and black people in particularly? In fact, the government was complicit in many ways, but it was not overt and much more insidious, because one cannot address the problem if one feels as though it is solved. Such is the trap of liberalism.

And yes, I understand that Hillary has paid lipservice to structural racism, but the broader point is to illustrate the difference between someone who openly is racist and one who uses racism, but portrays the policy as neutral.

  6. Not as neck and neck now. Bernie should have this one.

Very shocked but happy to see him winning Marion and Allen Counties. He NEVER wins the counties where the big cities are.

Going to see interesting to see how much weight the GOP throws behind Trump. I'm guessing little more than lip service. Having him in office doesn't really help them accomplish many of their goals.

If he loses vs Clinton, the GOP can be like "okay, we tried it your way and failed" and rebuild. If he wins, they are toast.

The only thing left now is for Trump to drop out and then Kaisch will have that nomination locked up.

Has the GOP ever actually articulated the policy basis on which they oppose Trump?

It seems completely fictitious to me that the GOP is being ideologically factionalized more so than the Democrats. It seems to be that the GOP voters are being influenced solely on identity and charisma, no on substantive policy issues-- it's not as if idiocy, chauvinism, and ethnocentrism haven't been a centerpiece of the Republican platform for the past two decades.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are in fact being separated on policy bases...and pretty stark ones. Just because leftist voters are more civil and less verbose doesn't mean that the Democrat's usual voting base is more homogeneous than the GOP's.

I wouldn't say I've "warmed up" to Trump, but for the last month, I've been operating under the assumption that he was going to make. Makes the fall shorter.

On the plus side, this validated that I married the right person. I said Cruz dropped out and my husband pulled up a spreadsheet of visa requirements he's been working on.

Trump v. Clinton....wow, it's really happening - it feels like something out of a movie or novel, very weird. I firmly believe that the three debates between the two candidates will completely determine who wins the presidency, as both candidates have such negative likability ratings that virtually every Independent could be swayed by what he or she hears / sees during those debates because they are not in love with either.

  23. This will be the best a third party candidate does or can do since Ross Perot

Hillary is going to have to channel her best wonkery in the debates. Bill has always been good at explaining policy in simple ways. Trump is making policy sound simple in dumb ways--Clinton has to be able to call him out on it and explain to people in simple terms why the bullshit Trump is peddling is wrong.

    From who?

Johnson doesn't match up very well against Trump.
Stein is only getting votes on the left so I don't see pulling anywhere near the numbers Perot did.
I feel like someone else would have to enter the race to match Perot's numbers. Which certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility, I'm just not sure who would be crazy enough to do it.
