I think it depends on what you qualify as “fake meat.” Cause black bean or tempeh burgers are absolutely incredible, they also aren’t trying to replicate the taste of meat though. I actually had a pretty good veggie dog recently, but I don’t remember the brand. Three of the siblings I see the most are vegan so I get exposed to a lot of what they’re eating. The only thing is that it annoys me that before I eat something they’re always like, “btw just so you know, this is vegan” and I’m like, “lol, I don’t need the preface, I’m not the one who has problems eating things.”

im vegan and was vegetarian for 12 years before becoming vegan and im here to tell you that fake meats are garbage. things that are at least made with veggies are better. and dont get me started on fake cheese. id much prefer to eat just vegetables and whole foods than try to eat meat alternatives.

 

Vegan and or gluten free alternatives are either great or inedible

 

yeah i found out i have a gluten allergy this year and its pretty hard TBH. i find it harder than being vegan sometimes. i found some pretty good pasta thats gluten free. the problem with gluten free pasta is it gets really mushy like when you cook it. bread is either vegan or gluten free but hardly either so thats been completely cut out. but lets face the hardest reality of no gluten out there: NO BEER.

 

I'm not advocating for low quality hot dogs. But I love good hot dogs. Especially topped with sauerkraut and all kinds of things. I'm for using all parts of animal if it's been butchered. I mean, Pepperoni is beef & pork with spices that's been fermented/cured. I'm not sure what's fake about it, unless you're referring to stuff that has additives? Do you think all Salami is "real meat"?

i think "real" meat is a designated cut of an animal that, other than marinating/spices/light prep, goes from bone to preferred cooking method. hot dogs, pepperoni, etc i consider a "meat product". it's probably all dumb but it makes sense to me.
