I'm surprised @Jason Tate doesn't have a post up about it yet, but I just read the story that's come out about Kevin Spacey, one of my favorite actors ever, being a pedophile. I'm so disgusted and saddened. Have you guys seen this yet?

Yeah it's really fucked up. The rumors that he's gay have been going around for years, but the fact that he chose now to come out after these allegations makes it seem like he's conflating being gay with being a pedophile.

 

100%. While he did apologize, he did not acknowledge the kind of mental effects this has on someone or why it's absolutely gross wanting to do anything sexual with a minor. He downplays it as well by referring to be drunk and not remembering. Doesn't matter, he did remember it and has his entire adult life. I'm so disappointed.

About a third of the way through the Linkin Park tribute concert. Pretty cool that the singer of Civil Twilight came out. They're a really underrated band.

 

I watched some of it last night. Will prob go back to it today. Quite moving stuff.

 

You can believe her word or not, I didn't at the time, but this story is at least true. Hearing this Kevin Spacey business go down is so odd, about 5 years ago we had to watch K-Pax for a film class in college. After watching, I told my boss told the next day to check it out (still to this day can't decide what happened at the end of it).

She said, "No way, Kevin Spacey is a creep." After I asked her to explain, she said her friend, who worked in Broadway, claimed to her many years ago that Spacey cornered him in a men's makeup room once and wouldn't leave without first making very bold advances. At the time, it seemed like phony celebrity gossip and I brushed it off. Awful weird, this coming up now and remembering that conversation. How many other possible confirmations waiting to reveal themselves is enough to make you sick.

I've been meaning to check out OWEL in earnest for a while. This has convinced me to do it today. Plus I really love seeing people of color making great indie rock.

 

Using alcohol and homosexuality as some sort of excuse for pedophilia and sexual assault is really disgusting and shameful.
