My friend situation kinda sucked when I was a kid. I had a solid group of friends, but I didn’t live in the town I went to school to so I couldn’t really hang out with them that often

I think about this shit a lot. Since I just moved I have accrued a decent amount of friends and we have a lot of fun, but I’m not exactly close with them and when I eventually move I doubt I’ll see them again. Then I have my for-lifer friends who I don’t see anymore cause I’m not around but i know they’ll always be my buddies, but we’ll never again have the freedom we had when we were in our high school days and we’re able to just do so much nothing together. My sister closest in age to me is easily my best friend tho. She’s amazing and I miss her. It’s jusy interesting how friendships evolve and change over time depending on where you are and what you’re doing. There’s an amazing and hilarious article on waitbutwhy about friendship tiers

Well, I got lucky because there’s a dude here that is from my hometown and while we didn’t exactly know each other, we knew of one another and had mutual friends so we kinda hit it off and I’ve become friends with his friends. But typically yeah, work or school or through my siblings. Honestly though I’m not usually looking to add too many people to my friend group, I feel I have enough, but currently I’m in a new town so I’ll take em.

That is lucky. I feel like I've grown apart from all my friends from my hometown and its hard to meet people in Chicago since I work with children and I'm so picky when it comes to friendships. I'd rather just have 2 or 3 really close people that I hit it off with than a lot of acquaintances
