I think most fans would prefer physical, but if a $10 download of a new album showed up on their website, I don't think many fans would think twice before grabbing it. In fact, I bet a lot of them would buy the download AND a vinyl version if it was released further down the road.

That's right. something like if you don't visit that thread for a few days you stop receiving notifications. Kinda nice, honestly.

 

I don't get the whole "losing hope for a new album" stuff. We are getting one this year.

I mean, my comment was kind of being over dramatic on purpose, but at the same time, "stuff" has been happening for years, and "hopefully we'll have a record out this year" has been said a few times throughout the years, so I don't see why this year is any different. They really haven't said anything definitive. Sure the Procrastinate email came out but it could very well get delayed and it could only be a single for all we know.

 

100% we are getting a full length this year.

Also I don't think anyone actually believes it will just drop...

I agree there has been a lot to go on but it's also a lot of speculation. We have been let down before. I think it's more of a coping mechanism that I just don't want to get my hopes up.

 

I don't know, I think what P!MT sent out months back all but officially announces the album for this year. No real need for any speculation beyond that. As for when it'll drop, that is where it is only best guesses.

 

Without a stricter time frame (even if it was Q2 or Q3 2016) and with "unconfirmed format" stamped on it, it just reads to me as "we hope to put out a record this year." I reeeeeally hope that's not the case though haha. I guess I just want Brand New themselves to come and flat out say "We're releasing "Know Gods Just Work" on June 3rd, like they did with Mene, before I actually believe its coming.

 

I don't think Brand New themselves ever said anything about the cassettes, certainly not until at least a week or two after they went on sale, unless i just missed it.

 

To me it seems the guys have been super transparent with their intentions lately, and if they didn't completely plan on releasing something this year they would have just left it off the email and kept the confirmed releases on it.

 

Speaking of, I don't think Know Gods Just Work is Brand New specific, I believe that's just a P!MT thins, as I think the whole "418" is as well. Knowing this might alleviate some of the hysteria when Procrastinate does things.

As for the whole "unconfirmed format". That was so they didn't lock themselves in to anything most likely. We know they have been in the studio, we know that they were there for LP 5 based off of Instagram.

Yeah, I was just using the "Know Gods Just Work" thing as an example, although I think that'd be a pretty rad album title.

 

The flyer did come in April 2015. I thought the whole cassette thing was just a joke, until November... To me, that release has been one of the most incredible things the band could have done to show their fans that we mean something to them, especially with the negative vibes surrounding the leak a decade ago.

I have a fair bit of confidence that we will see an album this year, but as far as "expectation" of it happening, I know better than to truly bet on it. I sit in the middle, excited for whatever they decide to do this year.

 

Honestly I'm just excited for June to get here cause I'll bet my life savings and everything I own that we here at least some new songs live
