Here's my thing. For those who don't watch NXT, you've heard from people about what a monster Asuka is. Then you see vignettes running for months hyping her up. And then that is the first match you see of her? It's a pretty shitty note to start her off on. Leaves both longtime fans and people watching her for the first time disappointed.

I think my point was more that Nia went nowhere with squashes. Starting off Asuka with a match like that, against someone who is there to eat pinfalls, is going to help even less than squashes.

And let’s be real they are going to fuck Asuka up. They fucked up Charlottes ppv streak at Fastlane for fucks sake.

 

And he eventually got to the point where he was squashing main roster guys. I think Asuka should be beating Delilah Doom and Rachel Ellering for a few weeks like Nia did. Give her a month or so of murdering jobbers and then throw Emma and Alicia her way.

But thats literally what Raw is for. You can still do squashes on a week to week basis while introducing new things. Not everything has to be done every match. Saying squash matches shouldn't be on PPV is so limiting in terms of storytelling.
