I'd certainly rather know than not know, especially since they're a band I've supported in past and was planning on seeing again this summer (but not anymore).

That's so depressing to hear. I'm not super involved in the scene so I'm not as familiar as what all has been going on but I know this something that has been happening way too often.

 

well, i've never listened to Better Off and now i guess i never will. disgusting.

 

haha yes this is me. one week till i see my family, two weeks till i start working in research that i actually care about and can learn from. so so ready to be done. my finals week is actually pretty nice, i already had an early one and one is a take-home, and my four others are spread out towards the back half of the week so i have time to study.

 

Yeah I can't wait to go back to work in a couple weeks. It's so much better and I learn so much more than I do in a classroom setting.

So I've listened to 1975, Kendrick, Future, Kanye, Rihanna, Sia... have I missed any other major albums thus far? Still gotta listen to Brian Fallon, but I've not heard much good about it sadly.

I don't know if they'd be considered major but Chairlift, Wet, and Porches.

 

Other than those, my personal picks would be Anderson .Paak, St. Lucia, Lissie, Animal Collective. Not sure if they're up your alley or not, but they're all pretty good!

@Garrett L. Gonna echo what some people have already said: Daughter, Porches, Chairlift, St. Lucia, Pinegrove. I've been really into Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, The Suffers, Lake Street Dive, Memoryhouse, and the Esperanza Spalding albums as well

Same here. I was totally unfamiliar with them before this year, and it's a great album.

 

I've been plugging Luna Aura a lot but she just makes really great pop songs.

 

what genre are they? RIYL?

 

They're on Broken World Media, and their debut LP is free on Bandcamp. Really catchy power-pop with strong lyrics, hit the same kind of sweet spot as Joyce Manor, The Lemonheads, early Weezer, and Cheap Girls.
