I'm just excited to see what these guys can do. TC is so far away.

 

Bears release Antrelle Rolle. Expected, but I thought it would be in camp. I imagine he'll make it into another camp but I think he's done.

I suppose that's what happens when you draft three potential replacements. A little sad for Deon Bush who we just got, Rolle was apparently his idol.

 

Browns won the analytics draft. PFF gave them an A (along with the Jags).

 

Bears also released Matt Slauson

 

I don't really get that move to be honest. Leno is an unknown and Grasu needs to put on weight. When Slauson played at center last season he was rated 1st or 2nd in pass pro by PFF.

 

Pff is not the end all be all, don't worry. They know what they're doing.

 

Yeah, now reading there are injury concerns. No wonder they signed Larsen and drafted Whitehair. I trust Pace knows what he's doing.

I'm honestly not very excited about any of the Packers' new guys this year. The player I'm most excited about is Quinten Rollins, a second year guy.

I realize another reason the Myles Jack pick was amazing -- Dave Caldwell indirectly admitted that our draft board had Jalen Ramsey at 1 and Myles Jack at 4. (He also said 2 and 3 were both defensive players.)

He and Gus Bradley also both said that after their last workout with him, they had already determined that most players are 4 year players and right now and the foreseeable future there is nothing hindering his explosion or aptitude in the knee. I'm not saying seeing is believing, as they were clearly the only team this confident in his recovery, but I am saying this wasn't going to deter them from drafting him - maybe it dropped him from #2 to #4 on their board, but that's it.

So, despite minimal concerns about the injury, with no dependable information on which teams were scared off by the injury and which teams were not, the Jags waited all the way until two picks above them to trade up for their #4 player overall... And still fucking got him. That is value. How many teams would start putting together like a 3 or 4 pick package and mortgage part of their future to trade back into the teens for a player they liked that much? To me that was a bold move for them to play the waiting game, to bet against other teams willing to take the risk, and put on poker faces for that long to salvage value and still get two of your top guys. A player like Myles Jack, when he drops well past his tier of talent, you usually expect him to go to a team that slammed their hands on the table, said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and threw draft picks at team to get him.

 

that's a good point. I still can't believe he fell that far, but good on them for what you said.

 

I just still can't believe that happened. Myles Jack was a first rounder all day in my mind and we were gonna have to do something stupid (or just take him at 5) if we wanted him. There's enough risk takers in the NFL to think someone else would've just went for it, and I really felt like his injury was hyped up by the media more than it should have been. Every team is familiar with the risks of a torn meniscus, players come back from that and have extended careers, it's not like this rare injury in the NFL. Jaylon Smith tearing ALL the tendons in his knee and having nerve damage is definitively worse and he came off the board sooner. Training staffs know how to monitor problems like that and prevent them from being exacerbated. I especially thought once it was confirmed he did not need micro fracture surgery (which was never even probable to begin with, it was always a worst case scenario thing) that all these teams would call the Browns and try to take him.

 

I didn't even know about that haha. That's hilarious.

 

I wish you'd listen to mine and Anthony (TkamB)'s podcast in place of that one!
