  1. @TedSchmosby well shit man I really appreciate that, Ken Vasoli is like my favorite musician ever so if I get compared to him in any capacity then it means I did something right! You the real MVP :fist:

  2. Yeah, I messed with the idea of which version should come first in the tracklist. But thanks! I'm glad you liked the song. I wrote in 2006, so I was 20, yeah. 2 years after I graduated high school. I feel like I was younger than that because it seems so long ago, haha.

If we ever do a Starting Line comp I'm going to be more excited to hear your covers than I will be to do my own

I was two years out of high school when I did my song, too. It was the first song I wrote so it feels like a long time ago but I guess it's been like... a year

  5. Lol! Tbh I've almost dreaded the day we do a Starting Line comp because of the anxiety I'll inevitably give myself over trying to figure out what song to do :crylaugh:

  6. haha oh man... I have songs recorded from like 2000... those are baaaaaad, haha.

    Colour me intrigued

I love them, but fortunately I only know how to play like five of theirs songs, so I'd really just have to pick one to learn. As long as someone does Photography I'll be happy

  11. Yup! I guess so! Haha and what's funny is that my song on this comp from 2006 was on my TWELVTH album! Hahahaha! 12 albums in 6 years isn't too shabby, yeah? Haha. Needless to say, I didn't go to school much.

Haha, so this is what teenagers did in 2000? I can hear the same inflection you have today at 0:20. That's awesome. That's what songwriting should be man. No inhibitions. Write about your fuckin pen if you want to

  13. Mannnnn, if only you knew what other kind of cringey Brad gems existed... hahaha

Holy shit. I've made tons of songs but I only consider 2 projects to be albums

  15. Since 1998, I've easily recorded over 30 albums/EPs, and have at least 70 "unreleased" songs/demos. I recorded (and kept) EVERYTHING I wrote since I was 12 or 13 years old. None of it is very good. :-)

One day, I will upload every single thing I've done to a one-stop-shop for the world to laugh at with me.

That's a cool comparison I hadn't even thought of! I think this was the first time I wrote a song with any kind of keyboard parts so they're very simple haha. This was from May of last year if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad the earnestness came through. My biggest goal as a songwriter is to be honest.

Moon @TedSchmosby - I really like the effect on the guitar and those moments of layered vocals. The ending is great when all those moments kind of collide too, with the layered guitars and the two vocal melodies going on simultaneously.

Run @nickyeatworld - Really great melody in the chorus, very catchy! The interaction between the guitars and drums is really fun here, especially at the beginning. The tone is set right from the start with that bouncy guitar and the drum rolls.

October Baby @Benjamin Lee - This one reminds me a little bit of Dear in the Headlights. I love the eerie low key verses jumping into this jumpy, almost surreal sounding chorus. The drums building with each verse (going from not there, to very quiet and minimal, to all the way there in end) is a nice touch too.

The New You (2006) @bradsonemanband - It's super cool to here how the song has progressed since 2006! I like the 2017 version better, but this does work pretty well as a nice acoustic breakup song.

Voice of the People @ImAMetaphor - I used to not be a huge fan of political songs, but that's obvious changed in the last few years and especially so this year. The lyrics are great in this one and we need more powerful songs like this. Musically to it's solid, I love the guitar sound here and the introduction of the tambourine was a good decision.

ATL is Atlanta @Jdaniels - I'm getting strong John Mellencamp vibes here. I'm a big fan of his music, so that's definitely a good thing! It's got that nostalgic folk sound to it that I've gotten more into the last few years, so this is right up my alley.

Pass @JakeRabin - Great little finger plucked guitar pattern, which is enhanced when the strings integrate with the rest of it. Your voice complements the soft instrumental tones as well. Looks like the comp is 50 for 50 right now as far as I'm concerned!

I just wanted to say how much I love that this compilation has generated the most back and forth, discussion and time spent on it before jumping at what's next - it's really really great.

I've been enjoying this a whole bunch the past couple of days - you are all incredibly talented and it's so awesome to even be a part of it.
