    I'm flailing now.

    I wonder if Tom ever read up on the Fermi Paradox. It basically states that their are 3 reason what extraterrestrial intelligent life has not contacted us. The blog details out that their is basically an extermination line for all intelligent life. It is a bit of a long read, but pretty cool info. The site is called “Wait but Why”. After this read the AI article. I think the authors are MIT guys.
