I don't really know anything about this guy other than he gets hyped in some circles and a lot of hate in others.

This is whatever. I don't think it's weird enough to get into the hype that it has received. There were a billion bands in 06-11 that fake rapped and screamed over hip hop/electronic beats. They were bad then, they are bad now.
