I counted calories and lost 25 lbs. But only stays off if you keep it up or else you just gain it all back. I had cheat days too.

Honestly the best way is healthy diet and exercise..but I know it's harder to get exercise in when you have kids

I've been able to eat a lot more (or, at least, eat like I used to a couple years ago before I had surgery/got anxiety) and not gain much weight because I cut a lot of liquid sugar out of my diet. USed to drink a lot of iced tea and now I drink like 90% water in a week. People always seem to forget how many calories and sugars that drinks add to a daily diet.

A few years ago I was able to cut like 12 pounds by cutting back on the sugary drinks and increasing water. Water also helps you eat less, since our bodies tend to mistake thirst for hunger. I probably would have lost more weight than that but I also started working out again at the time so I put on some muscle weight while I lost some fat.

Don't think exercise has to be harsh either, can be as simple as going for long walks. I used to walk 3.2 miles at my old place in under an hour, probably burned like 300-400 calories a day doing that.

No problem! And a few more tips that have worked for me:

Don't get too down on yourself if you "slip up" and have a bad day eating unhealthy. Easier said than done, but I know for a lot of people that can cause them to regress and have several bad days in a row.

Don't completely forbid yourself from having something. If you have a craving for chocolate, have just a little bit to satisfy that craving, especially at first. Otherwise you're at risk for cracking and overindulging later.

I pack my own lunch and bring that, and snacks (fruit, nuts, yogurt) with me to work. But only enough for the day. That way I don't get tempted to eat stuff I brought for other days. I also don't have cash so I can't use the vending machines. (They take credit cards, but I can't be that guy.)

Cut those carbs out and eat healthy fats. We eat a ton of avocados and nuts, I'm 6'5" and have sat at 160 in thanks to substituting lightly peppered lettuce for everything you'd usually use a bun or bread for.

In case anyone didn't know, fast food restaurants will totally do this for you. Just be polite when requesting, and remember they're going out of their way to.

Cutting carbs entirely, or even drastically reducing them, is not recommended. It may result in weight loss but it's likely to cause issues elsewhere. Carbs are an essential part of any healthy diet, but you need good carbs (whole grain, high fiber) and not processed carbs (fast food hamburger buns). Carbs are your body's primary source of energy and also help your body absorb and use other nutrients.

I try to follow the 80/20 rule and make sure that (at least) 80% of my calories come from high-quality, nutritious sources.

I can vouch for myfitnesspal. Granted, I used it to gain weight, but it’s catalogue of food stats is quite impressive. I was the kid in health class who wanted to die every time we had to track what we eat but I’ve been doing it for almost 600 days.

Last year a lost a decent amount of weight and actually started getting sort of cut by completely cutting out alcohol, sugar, and empty carbs.

I don’t know if you have access or time for a gym but this is the workout plan I followed. Saw some definite results.

You could try the Triple-C diet: cigarettes, cocaine, and coffee.

    do not try this
