Don't you think that maybe they're just sick of it?

And regarding the loan topic: I think there is a rule in the Premier League that enables the parent club to make sure that their loaned players cannot play against themselves. But this rule does not exist in the UEFA and also not in the Bundesliga. Thats why Courtois was able to play against Chelsea and Coman against Juventus.

Nah they should totally be fine with their captain saying he wants to move the team they're fighting for the title with before the season has finished.

Dortmund being poached of their best players by Bayern has got to be the oldest story in the Bundesliga. It's petty.

I would care about EPL more if an American was coaching in it.

The situation is just completely different with Hummels. He is from Munich, he came from Bayern. He always said that he sees Munich as his home, thats were his family and his friends live. He visits Munich regularly ever since his transfer to see his mates and his family. He always said that he wants to return there eventually. So there was never a doubt that he might return to Bayern. Of course it is somewhat controversial since he is the captain at Dortmund but still, all those other points stand. I could totally understand his personal motives, even if I was not a Bayern fan. It just makes sense that he returns to Bayern at this stage of his career.

No they shouldnt be fine. But theres a difference between understanding the motive behind a move and just pure hate against a player.

I'm sure your response to the situation would be exactly the same if you were a Dortmund fan.

I don't give a fuck where Hummels calls home. Goetze, Lewandowski, and now Hummels asking to move to Bayern completely fucks Dortmund, and the entire Bundesliga by virtue. If any of them really gave a shit, they'd stay at Dortmund or play abroad.

It might not be exactly the same but I would not be such an idiot and act like most Dortmund fans do via the social networks. E.g. it was a total bummer when Schweini announced his departure but I could understand his motives and only was sad that he would leave. It would have been the same if Dortmund would have been his childhood club and destination, believe it or not.

Schweini didn't go to the direct and only league rival.

It'd be like if Iniesta, Busquets, and Pique went and played for Madrid.

Comparing it Schweini's move is hilarious, they're not even close to similar.

Why should they play abroad if they want to play at Bayern? If money was the only reason, like most Dortmund fans suggested with all 3 transfers than neither would have gone to Bayern. Hummels probably has offers from pretty much all major clubs, and he certainly could earn more in England. But still he choses Bayern.

I sometimes wonder what my life would be like if I was lucky enough to be born in or near one of the superclubs instead of Ipswich. I think I'd enjoy watching football more.

They can go to Bayern all the want, obviously no one is stopping them. Doesn't mean it's not awful watching Germany's second best team basically forced to sell their best players year after year to Germany's best team.

Both are players that were legends for their clubs and nobody believed that they would ever leave. So the comparison is not too bad, although not perfect.

No, it's an awful comparison. Hummels is still a top player that will make a difference to whatever team he joins, Schweinsteiger, while once a great player, has definitely taken a step backwards along with having fitness issues. One moved to a completely different country to play, while the other is moving to a direct rival. It's not at all the same.

I would be on your side if it was any other player than Hummels at this point (e.g. Auba). You have to know Hummels past and then there is no controversy about this move. It is just unfortunate that it happens after the Götze and Lewa moves.

I did not say it is all the same. But for the fans the departure just feels the same. And I dont think Schweini took a step backwards, it is just that he had so many injuries in the last 2 years that it had an effect on his performance. He would still be considered world class if he would not have been injured.

  21. Platy

    Sam

I didn't say you said they were the same, they're just not comparable moves.

So he hasn't taken a step back but has taken a step back? If I wasn't shit at football I'd be considered world class.

I think it's best to leave this discussion here, as you're never going to understand how this move is controversial and get why Dortmund fans are upset. You live in a world where supporting a football club is easy, and the biggest challenge you face is not making the Champions League final.

In happier news, Trevor is joining Paulie in the APFC Dad Club.

No, the problem is you view me as a Bayern fan first and foremost. But in reality I am first and foremost a fan of a sixth division team that played in the third division when I started to support it and I have experienced all the ups and downs of a regular football fan ever since. The fact that I am also a Bayern fan doesnt make me any different.

Edit: Actually, it makes me very different to the ordinary Dortmund fan, that just supported the team since 2011...

That's the first time you've ever mentioned supporting someone other than Bayern. Convenient
