It was one of the most enjoyable movie experiences I've had in years. Absolutely loved it. Felt like watching The Goonies or The Sandlot or Stand By Me when I was a kid - the humor was perfect.

I was able to get a decent chunk of Sleeping Beauties out of the way tonight. I really like it so far.

decided I wanted a new book for October. picked up Salem's Lot. really excited. the original was one of my favorites to watch with my dad growing up, but I've admittedly not read a lot of Stephen King's books. Looking forward to diving in though.

question, my roommate is really into the Dark Tower books right now, I haven't read them yet. i read the first volume of the graphic novels and thought it was interesting but hadn't continued further. are the graphic novels just adaptations of the books themselves, are they connected. just want to read things in order if i start in on that world.

100 pages to go in End of Watch and at first I wasn't cool with the departure from the relative grounded-ness of the 2 books before it but it gradually wore me down and I am totally onboard with it now.

It wasn't great. I have yet to watch the movie, but I've heard it's much better.

the movie is great, I've always enjoyed it. the cgi is probably dated i haven't watched in a while, but supposedly both Stephen King and the director prefer the black&white as the best version. so if you get around to it I'd say watch that one.

I'm going through the graphic novels now. They're tremendous. The first volume is a direct adaptation of Wizard and Glass, which is the 4th Dark Tower book and mostly a flashback to Roland's youth. The comics continue exploring Roland's youth where the Wizard and Glass stops so after the first one it's all new material. Now that I'm reading them I'd definitely say they should be added to the Dark Tower master reading list along with all of King's books that reference the Dark Tower, they're that good. There aren't things that are obvious spoilers if you were to read the comics first, but the writers definitely assume that you've read the books, and certain things are going to mean a hellll of a lot more.

I think at some point the newer comics have caught up with actually adapting the series, but I'm not sure, not there yet.

So to sum up they take place before the books but I'd still read the books first.

Let us know if you plan on diving into the Dark Tower and we'll tell you what books you need to read. Salem's Lot is super important, so good call there

Eventually. I haven't picked back up with the chronological reading yet so I have a long way to go still haha. I just ordered 4 books the other day knowing I have 0 room for more books.

Oh cool, I didn't know if you were planning on reviewing it or anything. It's a monster (700ish pages) so it's not like something you just pick up, ha

I've been trying to be smart and reading Kindle books recently.

Oh nah, that didn't make my list for reviews because I didn't even think to request it haha. I have a few review books to get through anyway so a 700 page one would've been a lot.

Kindle books are great! If my mom and I didn't already have a boat load of physical books of his, maybe I'd go that route.
