Daisy's good, just could never relate to any of it like I can SF and TDAG. I mean the lyrics are very meh so that's why, but I still like it.

You Stole is the best song on Daisy.

Daisy was a letdown lyrically because it's like they weren't even trying on most of the songs.

Everything else is really impressive though.

Daisy is a very, very mediocre album with the worst lyrics of the band's career. People seem to mistake an artist experimenting with a sound for an album actually being good

Daisy is a very important album to me. One of my favorite all time records

There are days where I'd rather listen to YFW than Daisy.

It's just too much screaming, and the screaming itself is too harsh...combined with bleh lyrics that I can't really connect with on any level and it falls way behind TDAG, Deja, and SF for me. Musically it's kind of interesting and there are a few songs I really, really like.

In many cases I’d agree with this point (and it’s converse that not experimenting is bad) but I think daisy has some brilliant moments, even if the lyrics generally aren’t their best.

Vices is a cool song, I guess

I think for people who like screaming in their music like daisy, for people who don't didn't.

Ironically enough vices may be my least favorite for the reason above haha

Bear vs. Shark is one of my favorite bands ever, so idk about that

There are still some lyrical moments in Daisy but it's nowhere near as consistent as TDAG or Sci-Fi.

But to be fair, Deja has some pretty awful/cheesy/melodramatic lyrics in it too and that doesn't seem to get called out nearly as much. (I'm expecting this to go down about as well as my comments on John Nolan)

The way I see it honestly is that Daisy is for people that are into the album Daisy and people that don't like it are probably prone to listen to it less and maybe even not like it

Just the way I see it

But Deja's melodrama works. There's humor to it. It wears its heart on its sleeve and I believe it makes it more endearing than such a self serious album like Daisy

Love screaming in my music, but I'd tie Daisy last with YFW. Too great albums that lack passion.

“It feels like I’m jumping towards a train,” both lyrically and musically, is a top 5-10 brand new moment for me. So damn powerful.

Maybe it was more about the distinct shift in style then.
Going from yfw to deja was a big shift but deja to tdag was a shift but not as drastically I would say, then to shave daisy show up was surprisingly different.

I guess I'm saying it probably didn't feel like a progression such as going from yfw to deja to tdag.

I don't get this point. "Self serious". I guess I fail to see that that's a bad thing?

I don't know if I would consider there to be much humour in Boy Who Blocked and I think most (not all) of those lyrics are pretty poo. Just my opinion.

I think that Jesse's lyrics in the first two albums were filled with humor and a self awareness/deprication that is absent from the later albums. TDAG is an outlier in the sense that the humor has been removed yet the lyrics are good enough, for the most part (Handcuffs) to elevate the album. Daisy takes itself too seriously, imo, and the lyrics don't really hold up compared to the imagery that the band was attempting to put forward. I just really, really don't like Vin as a songwriter. I find his lyrics sophomoric and clunky while also lacking the self aware corniness that made the early albums "work"

I'm a fan of the lyrics on that song. The "Smell before rain/blood in my veins" line still gets me. Lot of teenage emotions poured out to it. One of the more straightforward, well crafted songs they've written.

Okay this makes more sense to me. I see your point and I see why you have issue with those things. I agree, when Vin takes the drivers seat in lyric writing it doesn't turn out as well as when Jesse does.

lyrically a step up from Daisy but there are very few lines that stick out to me as unique/interesting
