Interesting to hear Aj talk about Cody. Positive and negative stuff.

 

Good to hear about his voice as well.

 

Listening to LSS now, definitely back AJ on that The Band Camino rec

 

Really glad to hear everything about his voice in the podcast. Also the "Miles Apart" bit and talk about the key of Golden Record was super interesting.

 

Yeah it definitely makes more sense now. I genuinely thought they wanted it to sound that way, but he made it sound totally unintentional.

 

What’s he say about his voice?

 

Mostly that he had been sick on and off and recorded ALL of the vocals for Golden Record in 2 days because they had run out of studio time. Also, Cody had kind of pressured them into keeping songs in their original keys, despite them being out of AJ's vocal range. He said he wishes he could record "Miles Apart" specifically in different key.

 

i'm still worried, the fact that at his second show he already couldn't sing is very troublesome. plus this album felt like a very short recording process

 

He also said that after the first show, he got incredibly trashed until about 6am. He's aware that he needs to be careful and treat his body/voice better, but that's what happened for those second and third shows.

 

oh AJ, lol

 

I know,

I don't mind it live really, I just hope he wrote the songs in keys better suited for his range and took plenty of time to record the vocals on the album.

 

finally got a chance to listen the podcast. I love LSS, but I've been falling behind on episodes since I started my new job. I was super excited for this episode because it was literally my two favorite singers of all time talking!

Thoughts:

first off, I'm really happy to hear about AJ's newfound outlook on life...if had told the me that existed when TDS first broke up that it would be a good thing, I wouldn't have been having it, but I'm really happy that they did now. I think it's great that he had time to step back from music, start his family, and just live a normal life. even when Shane sort of goaded him by saying that part of him probably wanted to "shit talk" Cody haha. also, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, but was, when AJ said that anything the public knows about what he did is actually 100x worse behind closed doors. although I miss Tyler and Bryan in the band, it sounds like Matt and Ben are awesome guys and I'm looking forward to meeting them on tour.

second, it's good to know what the heck was going on with AJ's voice on GR...no wonder it sounded like it did! 3 days to record all the vocals is insane! So stoked to find out a definite date on the album and tour too. I really hope they play some old old stuff...like off If You Could Only Keep Me Alive. I'm glad they won't be ditching the old stuff, and that AJ is feeling so good about touring on it/again in general.

also, that band he mentioned that everyone should check out "The Band Camino" is pretty tight...so thanks for the recommendation.

 

kinda crazy to hear him talk about how much control Cody exerted over the musical process too on GR...pushing him NOT to change the key on Miles Apart.

I’m not getting too hyped for this yet. The lack of standard hopeless video teasers leads me to believe this is going to be an announcement about the single premiering next week. Hope I’m wrong

 

An announcement about an announcement that could be about a future announcement.

I’ll be annoyed if that’s the case, lol.

 

The "announcement of an announcement" trend might be my least favorite thing about modern music.
