Just finished listening to Archers of Loaf (Icky Mettle) for the first time. Thought it was really good. I feel like I've seen people talk about them in this thread, so thought I'd share.

Good on you. Really solid record. I think I prefer All the Nation's Airports though.

 

I'll check that out next. I just looked at which one came up as most popular on Spotify and started there.

Watch out for "Chumming the Ocean," Brand New ripped off chunks of the lyrics for Spinlight.

 

I don't know why you would think I like or care about Brand New but ok.

Edit: I thought we were in the Owel thread, which would've (maybe) made this funnier, but whatever what's done is done.

I think the only reason I listened to Icky Mettle at first was because Brand New would cover "Web in Front" a lot during the TDAG era. I ended up liking it a lot but never got around to the rest of their discography. Speaking of, what other artists have y'all gotten into because of BN (aside from Manchester or Kevin Devine)?

Thanks! It's my all-time favorite show, though Parks & Rec is a close second. I never played sports growing up, but I still occasionally look up Coach Taylor speeches when I need motivation.

 

Yet another show on my "need to watch" list!

 

Friday Night Lights is a MUST WATCH.

 

My wife actually wants to watch it (kind of surprising because she's not into sports) so I think I will get around to it sooner than later!

 

My friend used to rave about FNL for years and I always kind of judged him for it, thinking it'd be some silly NBC teen drama type show so one day I was bored about a year and a half ago and turned on the first episode, just to kill some time while my wife was getting ready and I was so immediately hooked. Watched all five seasons in like 2 weeks.

 

Kyle Chandler is just so damn good.

 

I think the first thing I ever saw him in was Early Edition when I was a kid.

Has anybody else seen that show?

I've seen him in plenty of things since then.

 

Yup, I used to enjoy that show as a kid. I remember reading that the creator of FNL didn't want to meet with Chandler at first because he only knew him from Early Edition.

 

Dude. That show was awesome. I loved watching it with my family growing up.
