The thread was compared to the dumpster fire that was the 2016 election, then a dumpster fire ensued. That's pretty much what's been happening haha

Were there any bands you guys found through Brand New? Via covers or what have you? It was through them I found Built to Spill, listened to old Modest Mouse, delved more into the Smiths, found Archers of Loaf....they did a lot for my tastes.

haha I was being facetious, I know what this thread has turned into since it found fame.

not sure if I'm using facetious right but you know what I mean.

I got into Modest Mouse the same time as Brand New (2003, Float On was just starting to get some airplay). Other than that, I too got into Built to Spill and The Smiths because of them. Archers of Loaf never really did anything for me.

I was like that with Archers at first but then I got into it around the same time I got into Pavement cause I was looking for that kind of sound I guess. I appreciate them more and more every year it seems like

I think neutral milk hotel was the only band they shouted out that I was already into when I was listening to them. The Jesus Lizard may have come from them but I think I was already checking out a bunch of touch and go bands. If I'm remembering right Daisy also made me check out a Police album and some Fugazi albums that I hadn't checked out yet? But yeah, Daisy influences were big for me

i was super into pop punk before daisy came out so bands like nmh/built to spill/archers of loaf never really did anything for me up until that point heh. daisy was def huge for me in terms of checking out a wider scope of bands. probably one of the reasons why i rank it as my favourite bn album tbh

I mean adding in that last part is 100% unnecessary when you finally make a solid post in this thread

BN introduced me to NMH and Built to Spill because I heard Jesse cover both

I was into pop punk but my gateway into listening to music seriously was this feminist punk band, Bikini Kill so I was open to a lot of stuff then. It helped that the pop punk I liked was p diverse in their influences (fall out boy, my chem, that mall emo type stuff). I had a similar thing with Daisy tho, it made heavy and noise stuff specifically a lot more accessible to me.

was it the cover of car? That kind of changed so much for me haha. It was so breezy and pop but not in the way I was used to. Grateful for that, probably why I still love when artists do covers

I mean, I for sure got into Manchester Orchestra directly because of BN. They were openers on the Daisy tour in 2009. Saw them live, blew me away and bought I'm Like A Virgin and Mean Everything the very next morning. Been my second favorite band ever since.

I love that even though I haven't watched in like 13 years, crowds still use the "WHAT" chant to this day towards wrestlers they don't like. Stone Cold is the GOAT.

Hey all, I started a bracket for The Gaslight Anthem in their thread if you're all interested. Same rules still apply, however, we're not doing it by albums. We're doing each individual song in alphabetical order. 70 songs total, 5 matches per round, and a wild card round will take place.
