That's a goddamn shame. I fucking love his voice and lyrics(assuming most the ones he sung were his).

Any news on like...what he's doing? Like did he just stop entirely and is a doctor or something? haha

weird, i think he's the worst vocalist they've had out of like, the 7 people that have had songs with lead vocals haha

    To each their own.

I think the reasons why you think he's the "worst" are precisely the reasons why I love him so much.

His tone of voice is just so unique and identifiable. The way he sings certain things just melts my heart. The combo of him and David is fan-fucking-tastic too.

I dont really care about vocal ability. Just how unique the inflection, tone, accent and the way of delivery is.

I tend to like unique vocalist/voices, so I latched onto him pretty hard. His voice like enters my soul.

Also....I just really think the other aspects of the band combined with Thomas's voice is what put this band into amazingly unique territory. Which is about the best thing you can hope for when making music imo.

I haven't listened yet, but Dillon and Her Son took a bit to grow on me and now I love it for how many layers are in it. Marine Tigers is okay to me.

The back half is my favorite part of the record.

Can we at least all agree that "The Future" is the most underwhelming track on here? I think the song might've been alright with David on vocals....maybe, but even then it's so meh.

It's the only track that I *really* want to skip when it comes on, but I force myself to stay through it.

I really dont understand why they basically start the album with it...like...."Yes! And now we have the mono-tone/bland voiced fellow in the band sing a very straight-forward poppunk song that is fairly uninspired lyrically"

It sounds like a Mark Hoppus song back when he actually tried.

i suppose im inclined to agree that it's not the best song on the album but i don't hate it nearly as much as you do. i don't hate it at all, actually, but i think as far as straight forward goes, dillon and her son does it better on this album.

I dont hate it as a standalone track. But it just feels so bland and kind of brings the album down a bit for me(especially because of where it's placed in the tracklisting). When I said, "It sounds like a Mark Hoppus song back when he actually tried.", that wasn't a disparaging statement necessarily. I just expected differently( and better) from this band.

I totally agree with you on "Dillon" going for a similar style and pulling it off much better.

I really, really, want to hear David sing "Faker".

Again, I just think I'm not really a fan of the more generic sounding vocals in their songs.

Weird/unique/off-center vocals are part of this bands identify imo. I originally came to this band because of Thomas's voice(he's in the older stuff and Whenever, If Ever)...then it combo'd so well with Davids voice too(whom I also like, but not as much as Thomas's). But not having either of them and just the straight forward voice...ehhh.

It's like Modest Mouse putting out an album and Isaac not being on vocals haha.

I mean, even before this album they’ve had like five or six people on lead vocals at times. Thomas, Tyler (who was in the older eras of the band and the newest ones), Greg, David, Katie, Nicole, and now Dylan. The band has always switched around vocal duties regularly

The Future is amazing and one of my favourite on this lol. The only song on here im still not fully sold on is Fuzz Minor. Everything else im head over heels in love with.

They always have a track right at the start of the album that is a simple straight burst of energy (Fightboat, The Word Lisa).

I'll probably download this tonight. Listening through Harmlessness in preparation. I've never made it all the way through W,IE due to my distaste for the vocals on it. There's some more vocal changes coming on this album?

    beautiful and chequered, the end

yeah some of the other members get lead vocals on some songs (though its still mainly david, who did most of the vocals on Harmlessness as well)
