"For one, I think having a song-writer that came in on the Blink album (Feldy- 5 Seconds of Summer, Good Charlotte) was something they felt was necessary, and that in itself may be an indicator of some of our current artistic differences that are difficult to overcome"

This rubs me the wrong way. The rest of the response is fine and is literally what Tom has been repeating for the past 9 months, but just this statement, just really really doesn't sit well with me.

I wish he would stop saying legacy like it's done and over with.

  7. So basically, Mark and Travis wanted to be back in the mainstream, and Tom just wanted to experiment and make art, even if the general public didn't like it.

I can see why they clash so much. Makes perfect sense.

I just read that online. Well at least they are all acting like adults and moving on with things. And it should keep the 'we need Tom back' fans going for ages!!

"It goes in a lot of different directions," says Hoppus. "We have some songs that sound like Blink-182 from 1999. ... We have some songs that are like nothing we have ever done before. We have a ballad called 'Home Is Such a Lonely Place' that has clean arpeggiated finger-picking guitars with strings underneath it. We have super-fast late-Nineties-punk-rock-sounding songs. ... We tried to capture the energy and not worry so much about all the knobs."

    YES GOD YESSSSSSS B-)

    I'm flailing now.

I would love to know what context of the conversation was with Mark and Travis. Obviously it was legal related.

Tom's message did come across a little like sour grapes. Totally passive aggressive.

seems so scary to be buried

I absolutely agree with this. That's a lose-lose situation for each party if they try to compromise... so in that case, I feel like what's played out has actually been the best-case scenario.

What an ass. "I am a forward thinking artist and that leads me down a different path".

I've been empathetic towards Tom despite a lot of dickishness for the last six or seven years but he somehow took the least likable path in that statement.

I'm wondering if Tom realizes how arrogant he sounds.

    I am a haunted house. I'm superstitious.

I don't see Mark and Travis being against experimentation and making art (in fact, I expect this on the new album). They just didn't want Tom stalling them for ages until blink finally had its turn in his priorities list. That's the clash between them in my opinion.

Yeah, i'm on the Tom's an Ass bandwagon. Cool, you do your thing. I'm fine with that. But do you have to contentiously talk about how much you love it, while also speaking about that band in such a condescending way?

  17. His ego is so massive. He's like Scott Stapp from Creed in the "Higher" music video, when he's standing alone on top of the mountain with his arms out and the wind blowing through his gorgeous flowing hair.

So it's basically exactly what I said a few pages back. He is very obviously against having a producer which, in my opinion, is the reason his music feels so stale. He is not open to outside advice and ideas. I get that they're not making the music he believes they should make, but it irks me that he almost acts like the music they are making is beneath him. Saying that he is a "forward-thinking artist" comes off this way. The part that blows my mind is that there was such backlash against his solo release and everyone loves "Bored to Death", but he still thinks that his opinion of what blink should be is the absolute standard.

Echoing what I said in my earlier post, I believe he can make a great record with them again, but I don't believe he is able to do that on his own...In other words, unless he agrees to collaborate with Mark and Travis and/or use a producer, he has no business being in blink.

    Haha. Perfect example.

  22. Oh for sure, Mark and Travis are totally into the idea of experimenting and stuff. But they also want it to be accessible to THEIR fanbase at the same time. They're very aware of what's TOO out there and what works within the confines of Blink-182. Tom doesn't get that. He's just stuck in his own head.

I wish life had a, "block tom," button. Not necessarily a permanent one, but one to keep him distant and muffled during blink's triumphant return.

I sing in Sarah and the Safe Word.

Why do I find it hard to believe that Travis actually talks to him every day?

Also, it's sounding more and more like @caseyaylward is dead on. Tom clearly doesn't think he's done with Blink for good. probably a reason for it.
