i dunno. i think he can definitely write noteworthy music without mark and travis, but i think he needs a level-headed producer to bring tom back to earth if he starts to veer off. i think ilan has helped in that regard. but i don't think ilan's heart is in angels and airwaves so he may not be trying to write the best music of his career, but instead he's just helping tom flesh out his ideas and that's it. that's the feeling i get, at least.

 

But he is saving us from the government conspiracy that is hiding alien technology.
While releasing custom tote bags limited to 184 made from and old AVA tour banner.

 

I'm legitimately interested in his new documentary or whatever it is, ha.

 

Haven't had time to get through the thread completely but if no one mentioned it, SRC has put the album up for presale. there is no real info on the pressing, anyone have any idea? From SRC I would assume 180g.

I'm planning on reading Sekret Machines, just because I don't think it's fair to criticize something without having experienced it first.

 

I'm curious to read one of his books, but i have yet to hear good thing about them.

Also it looks like Bored to Death is approaching 1 million streams on Spotify. I Really hope this cracks the Hot 100 next week!

 

I have always enjoyed Angels, but I will admit that the demos album was pretty much garbage. The thing about Mark and Tom is that despite what you may think of his music, Tom has been consistently writing and releasing material since the 2003 break up. Aside from +44, Mark hasn't done much. He announced a few projects that never came to fruition.

Even with the most recent break up, I always found myself siding with Tom. Mark and Travis have every resource available to them that a musician could ask for, they could have just started a band with whomever and released music until Tom wanted to spend time with Blink 182. There was absolutely nothing stopping them from starting a band with Matt Skiba 3 years ago and releasing albums under a different name. Throughout the whole drama between Neighborhoods and now all I could think was "Mark, just fucking release something. You have your own studio, connections with talented musicians, money, and a direct distribution mechanism with your fans, why do you need Tom?!?! He certainly doesn't need you!"

Did "Up All Night" do this well when it came out? I can't remember what the general response was for it.

 

Blink 182 - Bored to death sounds a lot like old school blink and i love it. Im so excited to see them again! The forum here i come!

 

I caught a drumstick on the reunion tour but this drunk guy also got ahold of it. I quickly wrestled it away ha.

 

The shipping from the official store hurt my heart, at least to Canada. SRC is a more affordable route for us Canadian folk from what I've seen, not sure if the same can be said for the US.

 

This is what annoys me. Now there'll be two different black 180g variants. I don't want two black vinyl.

Really wish they'd update us with info so I could either buy the Kings road one if they are the same, or both if SRC has a different variant.

Oh well.

 

I didn't hear blink til after Enema came out. My friend made me a cassette with I think 6 songs each from Dude Ranch and Enema. I think I listened to Adam's Song thirty or forty times. Having to rewind each time. Those were the days haha.

 

Is it bad that I replaced a photo of my kids with this artwork on my home screen? If I have to explain to my wife that I replaced that adorable picture with Blink 182 album artwork that hasn't even come out yet, it may cause some problems...worth it

 

I dont remember it doing so well when it came out, i just remember people being excited blink 182 came back

I enjoyed the comics and the animation. I really want to read Sekret Machines just haven't got around to it yet. I love the space/sci-fi aesthetic, just Tom hyping shit up as 'The best things Ive ever done' every time is grating after a while.

 

At the reunion show in Cincinnati I caught one of Mark's picks. Probably my most prized possession

 

All I remember is that is debuted at 65 on the Hot 100, then fell to like 80, and was completely gone by the 3rd week. Streaming wasnt big back in 2011, though, so it was harder to gauge it's performance.
