So I had never listened B&C until I had a bunch of people recommend Things We Think We're Missing and oh my god, I couldn't believe how bored I was listening to that. Then I saw them open for Manchester Orchestra and they put on a show that nearly put me to sleep. A lot of times when an album is hyped and I don't like it, I can at least understand why people are digging it even if I don't, but I genuinely do not understand the praise for that record.

Yup. Saw them open for ManOrch when they were supporting Cope and B&C were supporting that record and was like wow...this is disappointing.

Well if your sitcom is ever picked up and you need someone with a bunch of undiscovered talent that you want to take a risk on to become your creative partner...

The script for the sitcoms I'd try and write an outline where you detail the main plot points. That gives you a place to start and you can connect the dots and such.

I mostly write short stories and it's mostly from just starting to write with an idea and seeing where it takes me!

i loved each b&c listen after the first listen and they invariably quickly fall off, though TTWTWM lasted longer than the others. Tiny Raindrop is still a kickass song.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

Yes, this is middle-school: I use bubbles...bigger bubbles have larger plotlines and ideas, smaller bubbles have subplots and character developments. Afterwards, I draw different colored lines between bubbles, to represent potential strength of writing and which bubbles work together to create the best overall story.

...probably would have been easier to just post the picture of Charlie Day in front of his yarn-strung pictures.

Thanks. I mean, I doubt it since it's been a few years since I wrote anything that wasn't an assignment.

I used to buy cheap notebooks and just fill them with lyrics, poems, essays, etc. Once a notebook was full, I'd throw it out and no one else would see it. It was a great therapy for me.

I used to do the same, but I keep all of my old writing because I, apparently, hope someone will find them and use them to blackmail me on a what-would-start-out-as-a-perfect day.

I was a writing minor in college and am constantly between a novel and script. Might not work for you but in terms of a sitcom for television, I would start by doing like a full character ID for your central characters. As cheesy as it sounds, starting with both a synopsis and fully written out longline would really pinpoint what your story is both about but also in a way what it is that you are trying to convey.

For the children book, I feel like that could be storyboarded!

I second story boarding the children's story! You can use Celtx for that!

I wasn't sure what longline meant, but Google helped:

    long·line
    ˈlôNGˌlīn/
    noun
    1. a type of deep-sea fishing gear consisting of a long main line anchored to the bottom to which shorter lines with baited hooks are fastened at intervals.
      "a longline fishing boat"

A log line or logline is a brief (usually one-sentence) summary of a television program, film, or book that states the central conflict of the story, often providing both a synopsis of the story's plot, and an emotional "hook" to stimulate interest. A one-sentence program summary in TV Guide is a log line.

So the only thing I had heard of B&C when I saw them open for Manchester was Things We think Were Missing... I liked it ok. Saw them live and like others was bored out of my mind. Then I heard Seperation and became a fan. Still wouldn't pay to see them live though
