    Postal Service is incredible.

  2. Transatlanticism is my favourite but Tiny Vessels makes me think of my first boyfriend who cheated on me and left me damaged for years so it's incredibly hard to listen to /eye roll emoji/

    Regular

Talking about the final Brand New show in 2018, what if...anyone who got in on the limited vinyl gets with it a priority code to the final show?

Would that make the extra cost of the limited vinyl worth it?!

Codes is by far their worst album. Their latest was very good and has some fantastic stuff on it

We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes through Transatlanticism is perhaps the sneakiest of incredible 3 album runs of all time, never mind the fact that Forbidden Love EP is somewhere in there, too. Planes and Plans are pretty good, and the others while disappointing to me all have some great songs, but for a few years there they were on a different planet.

I think to a degree getting famous famous was to their detriment, if only because the magic Chris Walla worked engineering on a limited budget wasn't really repeatable once major label studio money could be spent. Listen to like, Scientist Studies and tell me he didn't know EXACTLY how to get the best out of BG's songs.

I can't stand the Postal Service album. Probably one of my least popular opinions around here

You need to add narrow stairs though, that album is a masterpiece

Late to the conversation but Plans is my favorite record of theirs and one of my favorite fall records. Transatlantacism is a very close second

Cath is a great song, one of my favorite DCFC songs for sure. But I'm not a big narrow stairs guy. I know they have two records after that most people hold as lesser, but despite being earlier in their catalog it's already taking them in directions away from what made that first run so appealing to me. Lyrically I think it's a little shallow - compare something like Tiny Vessels to Long Division or Your New Twin Size Bed or The Ice is Getting Thinner - everything's a little less clever, and more surface level.

And then you get into the production stuff - it's so shiny, which is cool, but to me doesn't suit them nearly as well as the rougher edges of the Barsuk albums. And Ben started singing differently, can't really put my finger on what it is, but I find his voice from that album on so much less appealing.

One thing about narrow stairs production. I think it's awesome that the whole album
    Was recorded via analog.

Yeah, it's weird cuz I recognize it's a great sounding record. I just like the way some of their other records sound better.

It's just weird for me to see someone call an album recorded live on analog tape overproduced ha.

Not trying to throw shade with this post.

Does anyone have any albums to RIYL Science Fiction. I'm curious to see what would be mentioned in here.
