That would be fantastic. I don't like big festivals but I would hope they would be on the live stream. I watched so many bands this year. It was so good. The broadcast is always so well put together and professionally shot.

I see them definitely doing more festivals next year. Lolla, Coachella, ACL I would think at least

Great article but I always get annoyed by tiny details haha (saying that there was 2 pre-TDAG songs, 8 Science Fiction and that Gasoline is their typical opener and the show didn't have surprises)

Assuming they don't out out another record I could see these two shows being the last time I see them if need be. Unless of course they come back to philly next year than I would be all in ha. I want to go to their last show but getting tickets will be difficult.

I think they should end their career at omegang in Cooperstown NY

That's a really really great idea. If not their last show, I def wouldn't be surprised if they did a show or shows there next year with friends: mwY, KD, MO, Thrice, Front Bottoms, O'Bro, etc. I would so try to go. I regret not considering it more when they played there.

I was at the last one and it was an incredible show. Also if they do a final show we really should hold a chorus after party

Yea that's fair. Lolla is starting to become to much for me. I'll probably do it 2 more years, then maybe go down to just doing one or two days of it.

I definitely think they'll do festivals. The only reason I'm not sure about Lolla is I could also see Riot Fest giving them the headlining spot if it's billed as their final show in Chicago, and that would really be a more ideal setting than an hour long set at Lolla.

I hope their final show is somewhere pretty huge. They have to know they're a band that has a ton of fans ready and waiting to travel across the country (or countries) for this show.

Imagine if their final show ever was in a 200-cap lol. There would be riots

Idk what omegang is (should I have? is it relevant to BN specifically?)
Motion City tried to do that, and there were basically riots for that (I was one of them since I didn't get tickets at first). They had to upgrade the venue, and they can't even be pulling in a fraction of the people who would want to be at the last Brand New show.

Brand New is such an interesting band to me. Save for H&L Fest, which almost doesn't count as it's a festival, every show of theirs that I've been to was sold out and the fans, myself included, are incredibly zealous in their fervor for this band. Yet, when it comes to day to day life, I have my close circle of friends who listen to them, but I'd say 85-90% of the people I know have no idea who they are. It's hard for me to gauge where they land in their popularity. Like, they were obviously the headliner at H&L, but Death Cab is probably the more well known band, right? I guess that's why they're a cult band and I don't really have a point here, just word vomiting

I get what you're saying for sure. I've met like 5 people IRL that know who Brand New are but almost anybody I talk to that listens to music more-than-casually would know who Death Cab is. But then Brand New came to my town and somehow sold out what I believe is a 10k cap? (Even though Modest Mouse was there too but everyone knew Brand New more)

Yeah, I saw them on the Modest Mouse tour and I remember initially being surprised that Brand New was headlining cause Modest Mouse was the band I heard on the radio growing up and so many people at least know Modest Mouse by name, but the crowd was clearly there for Brand New

They're a unique case for sure. My gut is to say not many people I know actually know who they are, but when I think about it I actually know a good number of people (and different types of people) who are at least familiar with them. But obviously not even close to the number of people who know Death Cab.

Right, but Brand New draws a bigger crowd, which is interesting. Maybe the fans are just more passionate? I'd be interested to know what Death Cab pulls when they headline

Yea I should've elaborated. Way more people know the name Death Cab, but the number of those people who would actually care enough to go to a show is honestly pretty close to 0%. I don't really know anyone who gets overly excited when Death Cab comes around. I've only seen them at Riot Fest. They had a sizable crowd and I saw a few people I knew there, but it makes sense when people are already at the festival.

Death Cab crushes live though, I'll say. Exceeded my expectations at least.

But there are a few good to great songs on each (don't ask me which though I only know them when I hear them).

Yeah, my affinity towards Death Cab is pretty minimal. I don't dislike them, I'm just indifferent, and I thought they sounded great at H&L

I mean yeah Death Cab is a "bigger" band per say but they also have been around longer just like Modest Mouse have. But those are interesting to compare to Brand New. The big difference is Brand New never had that huge hit like Float On so they have remained more under the radar yet still amassed a massive cult/underground following. Case in point #1 album on the billboard top 200 is no small feat. All the more impressive when factoring in that it was a released on their own label so completely DIY. Again MM is an interesting comparaison since they have their own label now too. Glacial Pace I love that for a label name. Finally fun fact according to fb Death Cab has 2.3 million likes, MM 1.8 million likes and BN 930,154 likes
