I'm okay with that omission. He would have been a better director though. Muschietti has no voice, no vision. I need to go to sleep, I have class in the morning, but this movie was so frustrating because it had good elements with the kids, but everything that had to do with the horror movie aspect was trash.

Watch more of them. They are seriously one of the best channels on YouTube. I waited to watch their review until now so as not to spoil anything and it's honestly like they stole the words right out of my mouth. The only difference being that they praised the cinematography, which I wasn't a fan of. God those Dutch angles were killing me -_-

Everyone talking about best lines as if there's not one clear winner

Richie's "WHAT THE FUCK" when Beverly ran past them and jumped off the ledge had myself and everybody in the theater dying, the slow mo was icing on the cake

Yeah I'm pretty happy Fukunaga didn't do this since he apparently wanted the kid orgy scene

Didn't he want more than that too? Pretty sure Bev's dad was going to do a lot worse to Bev in his script too.

You sure? I thought Andy said Fukunaga's two scripts didn't have them.

I downloaded the 2014 version this weekend. Need to finish reading it.

My point is that Fukunaga at least had a vision. This felt like it could have been directed by any for hire director.

I think the first scene where Pennywise shows up and talks to Georgie is very good (save for the loud noise when his eyes appear, which is pretty telling for how the rest of the movie would play out). Pennywise doesn't need to be doing anything crazy to be scary. He was at his scariest when he was simply talking to Georgie and manipulating him by hamming it up. Skaarsgard was good, but he didn't have much to work with.

I guess it's just frustrating that these kids don't necessarily survive because they are smart, and more because they have plot armor. There were so many times where they should have been killed but they weren't just cause the plot demanded otherwise.

Also, I didn't feel like there was any tension whatsoever, which is pretty important in a movie like this. There should have been a heavy foreboding atmosphere looming over nearly every scene. I want to feel unsettled, uncomfortable, like something is out of place but I don't know what. This was far too in your face to the point where it was laughable at parts.

Anyways, I could go on about why I didn't like most of this movie, but honestly, the Res Letter Media guys seriously hit every point I wanted to hit, including how dumb it was for them to clean that bathroom while Richie was waiting outside, which I thought was just a nitpicky thing I took issue with so I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm just very disappointed.

And yeah, why the hell was that bathroom cleanup scene in there?! Like, who gives a shit if no one else can see it, and if Bev's just going to move anyway? That scene was such pointless filler.

I will agree that I felt like Pennywise could've easily killed the kids several points throughout the movie. I know he likes to instill fear because it's like salting the meat, but he didn't really scare Georgie that much before biting his arm off, he was more trying to invite him in. Just felt there were a couple points where Pennywise could've just bitten one of the Losers' arms off, and they absolutely would've been scared again.

She could see it...that's the point. They wanted her to feel comfortable.

    And it's in the book.

I'm not sure there is a single sentence in here that I agree with haha. Oh wait, there is! "The first scene where Pennywise shows up and talks to Georgie is very good..." if we stop the sentence there, I agree!

But yeah, everything else you are on your own!

I don't take issue with them cleaning the bathroom. I take issue that the blood literally covered every nook and cranny and it would have taken them until nighttime to clean it up. And I'm just to expect Richie to wait out there for hours on end?

But "movie time" is a thing so :/

    @Night Channels

That's ignoring my point. That would have literally taken all day to clean and they could have easily written around it by still having the blood, but it didn't need to cover every inch of the bathroom, we still would have gotten the point. Again, Andre doesn't know how to be subtle so of course the blood exploded all over the bathroom. It's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but it's certainly something I noticed that took me out of the movie.

I saw it with four people who all walked out and were shocked that it was so late. The movie flew by for us because we enjoyed it so much.

So, I mean, anecdotal evidence doesn't really get us anywhere?

You really think it would take all day to clean?

I mean, look I've obviously never had to clean up massive amounts of blood before, but with five people, highly motivated, and a fairly small space it seems like it would be pretty doable in a few hours. I mean, it seemed to be coming off fairly easily? I don't know. It strikes me as well within the plausibility department.

I'm surprised that is anyones issues though. The only real thing that bugged me was using Bev as bait. I understand why they made the choice, but they could have done better.

It certainly would have taken longer than they let on. Again, not huge issue, but it was just frustrating to me because it's something that is so easy to write around.

What do you think about the fact that Mike is basically a shell of a character who disappears for like half of the movie and then is just.....back?

Also, Richie's quips after horror elements really bothered me after awhile. Like, at the end, I forget what he says, but they defeat It and I think he says a joke about signing his yearbook or something? I forget. Anyways, I don't care how much of a smart ass you are, you are a child, that would have been such a traumatic experience. You and all of your friends almost died. You should be in tears. Instead, the movie doesn't let the scene breathe or settle in and they hit you with a one-liner.
