I think the intention was to get more casual players into this first raid for D2. It was something ridiculous like 80+% of year 1 players never finish a single raid and a lot of players during that first month quit D1 after VoG dropped because that was the end game and it was a high level requirement and extremely challenging.

I think the normal version of this raid will be more casual-friendly. Then when they introduce the heroic+challenges and the prestige modes those will be the versions of the raid you and I and others in here will be focused on until December.

 

was this weapons quest a random drop or do you get it after finishing a certain quest line?

 

I'm on the lower end of the range but I'm gonna try and get as high as possible to (maybe?) try the raid tomorrow.

 

These are my thoughts exactly. They don't want to throw something ridiculous at everyone from the start, especially new players. They want them to be able to experience the RAID without feeling like it's totally unobtainable. Especially for those people that don't have a clan and get matched up with a group of randoms that possibly wont communicate the entire time.

 

Yeah, I'm excited because this will be my first raid (hopefully). I like that they're making it easier to get involved in this time around.

I'm around level 15 with light power around 150 so I got a lot of grinding to do tonight.

 

i should be able to hit at least 270 by tomorrow. for those of you unaware, well, theres a new loot cave so maybe if you want you can google that to spike up your power level. frankly the gear algorithm in this game is SO MUCH BETTER than D1s so really it doesnt matter pretty much any activity will give you better gear but still.

yeah the shader thing is frustrating because a lot of the green/blue shaders look like ass and there isnt an option to just apply one shader to all of your armor. you have to use them on individual pieces and then just hope that you have enough of a particular shader you like to color all of your armor. eventually we'll all get to the point where we have a set that we love and want to keep but it'll be frustrating to have to pray to rng just to get the shaders you want. a big reason why i love games like this and Warframe is the fashion, looking cool while also playing an awesome game.

 

oh and also from my experience the strikes arent really worth it atm, public events give better rewards more consistently, theyre quicker, and theyre just more fun. id like to think bungie will BUFF strikes but i doubt it, theyll probably nerf the events.

 

bought this last night and im anxious to give this a shot tonight

 

I'm definitely worried that I won't have enough shaders to use and that I'll be desperately praying to the RnG gods for the ones I want. Haha.

 

Definitely back this, I'm not getting a ton of gear dropped during strikes and the rewards at the end are 100% not worth it when you can do a half dozen strikes or more in the same time.

edit: meant half a dozen events, oops

 

but thats my point, youre the exception not the rule! most people dont have that many shaders lol. hell a lot of those look like ass on the actual models but i guess thats more subjective.

again its small potatoes in the grand scheme but it seems like such a step backward when literally everything else was a step forward

yeah the public events just seem to give better loot plus the tokens which can also help get better loot. also i seem to get a lot of high value targets just kind of wandering into my public events so thats even more loot chances

 

Well, if you finish all the strikes, you can unlock Nightfall strikes which could potentially yield better rewards in the long run.

 

Im so glad I have a dedicated clan in this game, otherwise I'd be leveling up so slowly. I'm up to 228 after only one night of playing post-story and hoping I can keep it up at the same pace to be raid ready. Also just want to note that the Titan armor sets are improved so much in this game (Especially the Io set in particular). They look like tanks in this game compared to D1.

Also anyone adventure around the tower and find the faction areas? Im assuming those will be introduced with a weekly update at some point soon. Im hoping to get some nice Dead Orbit gear.

Yep, they've already dated the start of the faction stuff - Faction Rally, starting Week 4/Sept 26th

 

So serious question. How do engrams drop level wise. I'm 277 and my blues and purples are now dropping 272. But my friend is 276 and his are dropping at 265 still. I can't for the life of me figure it out and he is getting pretty pissed off.

That's true, but the way Powerful Gear works now everyone can get to max Power without ever setting foot in the raid, eventually. Just do the Flashpoint, Nightfall, and Crucible every week. And joining a clan gets you even more Powerful Gear. Plus the exotic world quests give bumps to specific weapon types as well. The whole structure of the loot system is a reaction to that problem in D1, where people couldn't gear up and hit Walls that made them quit. It's now built around getting everyone up even if they can't raid. That's why I wasn't expecting it to be so low to start.

 

I have no idea, but once you reach 265 you're not getting light increases from any engrams other than exotics. Engrams are just for getting loot that you'll need to infuse at that point. Only way up from there are exotics, milestones, the raid, Trials, and I assume Iron Banner and probably the Faction Rally (whatever that winds up being). Even purples are useless for Power increases after 265. So even though we don't know the answer, the answer isn't really important for either of you anymore.

 

It doesn't change the gameplay for you, but for people who loved customization in D1 it absolutely does change the experience. Again, put yourself in their shoes and imagine how you'd feel if it was a feature you DO care about.
