I will say this for Yugioh...I watched every available episode from Netflix over my last Christmas break and it had a lot more momentum than DBZ has as I'm rewatching it.

 

I'd like to interrupt this thread to give you blakebeats' week one nfl thoughts (he was right)

 

Quit your lies, human! If you can't appreciate the original, at least admit DBZ Kai has good momentum

 

My parents bought me the digests all the time growing up. I practically learned to read from Archie comics. It's got a certain charm in its simplicity. The jokes are good-natured and fun. The moral universe of the world of Archie is very comforting. Archie is a gold-hearted klutz with a major weakness's of being girl crazy. I think Betty is one of the greatest female characters in all of fiction. Jughead is hilarious and relatable.

I'm really enjoying Mark Waid's modernized reboot because it's still kept it's small town charm and it's true to the beloved characters, but it's added stakes and more diversity. It's that same comfort in simplicity.

It's ok Raditz. I understand you have a hole in your heart. But, I believe this hole can be filled by watching Yugioh and accepting that just maybe, despite the ridiculous plot and over the top reactions during battles, it is what you've needed to fix what Piccolo has taken from you.

I know a lot of comic fans were disappointed, but I really enjoy it! Every week on the show's Reddit, there seems to be a new post from someone asking how to get into the comics, so that's as far from a betrayal as it gets.

I enjoy the dark vibes and murder mystery to it. I enjoy the teen drama aspects. I don't mind the creative liberties taken in the show that deviate from the comics, because it makes the characters new to me. It's like watching Smallville way back when, it's fun to see how characters are interpreted in a new context.

My wife was really surprised when she found out there was a teen drama we could watch together. I love when a new character is introduced on the show and she asks me if they're in the comics so she can get a clue as to their role in Riverdale.

Hot Topic's website sells Jughead beanies and I kinda want one.

 

I haven't gotten that far in the series to know your true fate. Should you have used spoiler tags on your comment Raditz? Or are you so evil that you ignore such courtesies!?!?

 

Unfortunately Toei didn't include me on the new series despite my return. You are safe from their false history.

 

I always wanted to wear goggles on my head like Tai did.

 

I did this for a brief maybe 3 weeks when I was like 9 because of Tai

First 3 seasons of that show hold up well for a kids show imo

 

When I was high school my friend's older brother would wear snowboarding goggles on his head everywhere he went and I made fun of him then and I'll make fun of him now if I ever see him

Avatar The Last Airbender is such a quality show, regardless of its target demographic. That show understood character development and heavy themes and really knew how to deliver it in a poignant way that was effective to children and adults alike. I haven't finished Kora, but it continues that legacy by tackling things such as LGBT representation. GOAT.

 

The thumbnail on Netflix made me think it was some sort of horror/thriller. Clicked on the description after getting It Follows vibes from it and was like wtf... lol
