    That's fair, I could see that. s

I'd still argue though that this was an issue with the quality of the last several seasons, not the finale itself. At that point, it no longer made sense not to have them end up together because they spent the entire show telling us how much Ted loved her. They should've ditched it completely in like Season 6, but they didn't. It didn't ruin the whole show for me though is basically how I feel.

when you started only getting 2 or 3 main mother story episodes per season it got bad. however i do love the episode where marshall tries to find that burger place with regis. and any episode guest starring bryan cranston.

You have to ignore some major portions of their story to act like the show didn't show us why they do not work as a couple and are meant to be close friends.

I honestly haven't watched season 9, minus the finale.

as soon as you found out that robin can't have kids i assumed they were setting the show up for "aunt robin" to eventually be the kids step mother, because it was so obvious that that was a plot point to throw viewers off the scent.

I feel like that wasn't the point of Jim & Pam's problems though. The whole show they had had a perfect fairytale romance. I think they turned that on the head in Season 9. They showed that basically it's not easy for anyone to make a marriage work, no matter how perfect it may seem to people on the outside. There was also a lot of unspoken things going on in my opinion, in regards to how Pam basically gave up her art dreams for Jim (by her own choice, but she did) and then Jim didn't even seem to want to consult her about the decisions he was making that would impact the whole family.

To be honest Season 9 of the Office had some of the best payoffs for being invested in such a large ensemble cast of any show I've seen really. Angela/Oscar's friendship, Dwight/Jim's rivalry friendship, Darryl making it from warehouse guy to his dream job. I don't know clearly I stan very hard for the Office. I truly believe it is one of the best television shows ever made.

I'm not saying they weren't lazy with it all. They addressed most those points, but very sloppily and dumb. I mean I'm really not saying I think it ended on a high note, but I think it did an adequate job of wrapping up the series, based on the dumpster fire it had become by that point. I at least felt like ok that makes sense.

I've also never liked the argument that he couldn't have been in love with the Mother because of Robin. I think he did let go of Robin, or at least suppressed his feelings, but once that void was there again, it makes sense. I mean the main reasons I can think of they shouldn't have been together was kids & her career. I don't see where either of those things would be a problem by the time Ted goes back to Robin. But again I do admit I'm very forgiving. I think by this point I just didn't really expect much better from the show so I just kind of accepted it.

I really do understand why people hate it, but it just didn't really bother me. (Lol at how much I'm analyzing this).

good points made, I think Darryl's story arc was my favorite. when he throws the basketball into the lamp/fishtank i laugh every time.

  12. On this week’s episode of Encore I am once again joined by special guest Thomas Nassiff. Thomas returns to the show to discuss the album we spent most of our time recording this show waiting on … Brand New’s Science Fiction. This episode of the show differs from the previous episode in that we we spend most of the time talking about the album roll-out and the industry ramifications of this new album. We talk about the band going #1 on the charts, how this specific roll-out was the only way they could live up to expectations, and the chance of there ever being a band like this again.

They didn't agreed it though. They literally had a horrendously awful looking scene with Robin floating away and Ted letting her go like 6 episodes before they go , "FUCK IT! Ted is back with Robin! And the mother died of "sickness", we are too lazy to give her a proper ending." Fuck this show so hard.

I have never seen the argument you posted. It's dumb, so we agree. But her work will 100% get in the way, like it did with Barney. And Ted would be more bothered about it then he was. It was so dumb, I can't take it.

For me, I was just able to rationalize some of those things, but I get it. We certainly agree that the Robin floating away scene was absolutely ridiculous. One of the worst scenes in television or film that I've ever seen.

Like, remove all context, it just looked so bad. What were they thinking?

my main problem with the finale was that ted seemed like the kind of guy who was so in love with the mother that he simply wouldn't be able to move on if something happened to her and i thought getting with robin cheapened previous moments. that said i enjoyed the episode. and what i really came to say was i saw Josh Radnor speak 2 days ago and he is just as corny and expressive as Ted, in a good way.

No doubt in my mind too. Legendary status legacy I might add now after Science Fiction.

  24. Brand New – Science Fiction

When fans say they love the album, but believe another album is on the way, something is wrong.

What? I read that sentence like six times and it's still stupid.

The worst song “Could Never Be Heaven” features an acoustic melody that doesn’t suit Jesse Lacey’s vocals, failing to rival other softer Brand New classics.

    :crylaugh:
