Equifax, Experian, and Transunion all can go fuck themselves. :)

But I'm also all glad they didn't hold my identity theft against my credit score so I can one day buy a house or a car :) :)

    It's all so very dumb.

I'm pretty sure every credit check that is done for you goes through Equifax doesn't it? Along with the other big 2? I don't think I've ever been about to choose which credit bureau to have credit checks run through.

Yup. Three companies that shouldn't have any of our information have ALL of our information.

Sort of. It all goes through FICO, but there's only the three major companies that work with FICO to give you your credit score. Equifax being one of them. At least that's my understanding. People or companies can check their credit score through Equifax or one of the other two.

Did they set their password to: Password1 again?

Surrendering every bit of information about myself while applying for a mortgage was very, very uncomfortable. It makes you wonder what they do with all of your information then. I must have given them hundreds of pages of information.

My FICO score is pretty good for someone without an income.

Yeah, and your 3rd party that's running it will look at certain things on certain ones.

I'm just curious how you're gonna be able to prevent working with Equifax entirely

That's quite unacceptable if your stories of work are even 1/10th true.

Do business with one of the others instead. Experian or Transunion. That's really the only option. But that's only on your end. A business you might be applying for a loan with might use Equifax. But then again, they're paying that fee, not you. So it's vital to make sure that all three have good reports for yourself.

    It really is disgusting.

Why people do this shit is beyond me. I get that they do it for money but Jesus man. That's just unfathomable

It makes sense that lenders want to be confident that their loan will be paid back in full on time. But these companies have grown into monsters that I genuinely believe do more harm than good. The mortgage process is hell.

It really pisses me off that mine says "may have been impacted," not yes or no. Either my information was released or not. What a joke.
