This reminds me of Modern Vampires of the City in that's its just top to bottom so fucking professional. Top to bottom not a second wasted. So much variety while still holding an overarching feel.

They played like 6 or 7 of the new songs tonight in the Apple Store...including Walk it Back (@Joel ), I'll Still Destroy you, and 3 of the singles. They didn't play Day I Die or Turtleneck unfortunately.

 

Hmm wonder if I should download this better quality version even though this comes out tonight

Dark Side of the Gym evokes an emotion I've never gotten from the natty before

 

The singles are definitely the centerpieces of this record. Those who held out are going to be rewarded.

 

The packaging is so slick for the vinyl. This band just does everything right

 

Day I Die went from maybe the worst of the four songs released to possibly the quintessential National song for me in a very short period of time.

Also the music video is extremely cool.

 

I love how weird and droney this thing is at times.

Has anyone noticed any JV vocals? Apparently he's all over this thing

 

Pretty sure I hear him in the background of "I'll Still Destroy You"

I guess I misread some stuff. I thought some of this was recorded at April Base.

According to this it seems like he has vocals on multiple songs? Or maybe just dark side of the gym.

Yes, thank you. I thought it was line of best fit I read it on.

 

I really wanted to stay up late and hear this tonight (or midnight. Whatever) but I am exhausted and really can't justify staying up until 1am. So, this will be the first thing I hear tomorrow. I am very excited.

 

It's gonna be awesome when you first wake up and forget it for a couple minutes and then go OH SHIT YEA

 

i'm also super exhausted. my options are either stay up late tonight and listen, or wait until late tomorrow night/potentially saturday morning. i'm staying up haha.

 

I have the privilege of having time in the morning to listen. If I was in your position, I'd definitely be fighting for a second wind and toughing it out tonight, haha.

 

this album is excellent.
