Maybe it's one of those "had to be there" type albums, seems like quite a few releases from that time period are like that

(what I was about to say, then realized I love the Nightmare of You record and first heard it ten years after it came out)

Plus that NOY record has some of my favorite album art:

If anyone from Vermont wants to send me some more Heady Topper, I would greatly appreciate it

  5. I have a demo/ep thing they sent out with real dried flowers on it somewhere. I really wish they kept in that albums direction and production style.

Now NOY is an album and band I did absolutely adore back then.

To this day their self released little album teaser has the coolest artwork I have ever gotten.

Pollyanna is just really strong, tight emo/rock songwriting. The vocals could maybe be a make or break but I think lyrically Nick makes up for it in spades, granted I think he's a good vocalist also. The guitars are slick and kinda mathy and the drums and bass mix tempo and key a lot which add to some cool diversity. Like Jason said it's one of the best from that era.

That is exactly what I just posted about! I have that, too!

So don't bother with their other album? is This Loaded or something, right? Just stick with Polyana?

Brandon Reilly's new EP is actually pretty solid, probably the closest he has come to the magic of the NOY self-titled album in a while

It's ok but I don't think it's aged as well as Pollyanna

Yea, I have it in a ziploc bag (can't recall if it came that way or I did that) and I have it in a box somewhere.

My favorite Northstar song. The lyrics are so good and take a lot of thought since Nick Torres' lyrics jump from one metaphor to another pretty quickly.

I still don't understand why NOY didn't get bigger. The songwriting was solid.

I really like that solo song Brandon did not long ago, "That's so Millennial." It gave me all sorts of early NOY vibes.

Nightmare Of You, Northstar, Cursive, and GAD all released albums that I feel took parts of Deja and went in different directions with it

If northstar has made more records I'm pretty sure they would have been my favorite band

I don't hear much Deja at all in NOY. It always reminded me a lot of The Smiths.

Don't have the titles memorized but:

    - When Jerry and Kramer switch apartments cause of the chicken place
    - when Kramer gets thrown off the bridge
    - little Jerry Seinfeld
    - face painter
    - the circumcision one where Jerry gets his finger circumcised

Honestly the list goes on haha. You?

Right, which is also all over Deja to an extent. NOY took the poppier parts of Deja and added heaps of irony on top of it
