I just remember being really excited for the album because both Jason and Thomas were writing really awesome stuff about it on AP and the single 45 was really good. The album streamed early and I remember my dad and I playing it almost the entire way from Cleveland to Chicago for a summer visit with my sister. Pretty sure my mom got sick of it haha. Once there, my brother-in-law wanted to listen to it as well. That trip was pretty much craft brewery visits and the record Handwritten. It was awesome. That album hit me perfectly as I was leaving the banking/investing industry for the corporate side.

I just love the different movements of Handwritten. You have the accessible and catchy front section. A moody and sometimes bluesy middle. And then an indie, slow it down ending. The album follows an almost SIN curve in it's pacing and the songs are just really good imo. I still wish Here Comes My Man caught on more. I thought that song was perfect for the pop/rock listeners.

I remember being in line at a store with 4 other friends and I saw the album streamed. This was maybe my 2nd most anticipated album of all time (Neighborhoods #1) and with Thomas's 10/10 review I was so stoked. We rushed to my friend's basement and listened to it 3 straight times!

We then went to a party that night, with no A/C, sweating so much, and blaring that album all night. It became the album of my friend group's summer. And eventually Gaslight became THE band of my friend group.

Also went to sleep with a girl I liked that night, which turned into years of admiration for her. Lyrically that album NAILS my situation at the time!

I still listen to Handeritten regularly. So many songs released during this album cycle. Happy Brian's recording a new solo album, but at some point we need another Gaslight record.

Even though I think an album full of songs like "Mojo Hand" would be pretty incredible, I really doubt that's what this is going to be.

Handwritten is the best TGA album in my opinion. I remember listening to the singles getting announced on AP and being hooked immediately. Even the songs people like the least on that album have stuck with me to this day. I cannot skip a single song, from Keepsake, to Too Much Blood, to Desire, even those "weaker" songs are fantastic. Alongside that, Mulholland Drive is in my top 3 TGA songs easily.

He finished tracking the record. Off to mixing! Hoping we get it this year and have some fall time Brian fallon jams.

yeah that Cohen review came off as super unprofessional especially since the man was just getting over a divorce and was exorcising a lot of personal demons on that record. Like fine if you dont like it cool but to just straight up attack Fallon and call his songwriting a joke is not ok.

aside from that Handwritten is rad and should get more love because it has maybe the best opening 3 songs of any Gaslight record

Would give that title to The 59 Sound, but the first five songs on Handwritten are probably my favorite run in the discography.

That's a great first 5, no doubt about it. Oddly, I remember being disappointed when I first heard Here Comes My Man, which was the 2nd song released (prior to album release)......now I think it's a top tier Gaslight song.

Same thing with Keepsake, that one was a major grower for me due to the odd way he holds those vocal notes in the chorus..........just took me awhile to like it. GREAT song.

Handwritten is my second favourite TGA album but no stretch on it matches any stretch from The '59 Sound.

Three years ago today Get Hurt streamed in its entirety. Oddly enough I feel like this album has been out for way longer and that Gaslight has been on hiatus way longer than 2 years. I crave their return.

I still get in a super Get Hurt mood around this time each summer. Not my favorite album by any means. It's lack of direction and Brian's forced attempt to try to stray away from his usual writing themes and ideas hindered the lyrics from being top notch Fallon.

I still have nostalgic memories (mostly poor as I ended a long term friendship/relationship that began the night Handwritten streamed oddly enough) and think Rollin' and Tumblin', Dark Places, Have Mercy, Get Hurt, and 1,000 Years are great tracks.

I really think Get Hurt is fantastic with maybe a couple of duds. This is "that band" for me where their discography is impeccable through and through.

Ha, trust me when I say if Get Hurt was by another band who did not have the four albums in front of it like Gaslight, I would love it so hard without feeling obligated to compare it to those. (I also only skip 1 or 2 songs when listening regularly)

They're my favorite band and I really cannot foresee that changing unless the Menzinger's pump out 2 more killer albums before Gaslight returns.

Menzingers is my #2 contender as well, but I don't love much about Lesson in the Abuse and I even don't love ATP as much as most, so they have a lot of ground to make up.

Do you think we'll get a new Brian Fallon record before the year is out?

I can't imagine he's going to sit on it that long? It's been in mastering for like a month already. I figured we'd get it around November/December.

Handwritten also has a top 3 track of theirs in "Mae".

I friggen wish, but I doubt it. It would be cool for it to come out October/November, he does a tour for it...then the summer Gaslight returns for a 10 year anniversary tour of 59' Sound.

    Dreams.

Update: he just instagrammed mixing is done. It's going to the mastering stage now.
