I feel like this would actually work less well. The book is special because of his lyrical writing style and personal introspection. I don't think it would work that well onstage or film.

    run away with me Platinum

Atlantic City in a musical would be cool

anyone fortunate enough to have scored tickets to the Broadway run?

I got listed as stand-by last night on Verified TM Exchange and received a code this morning around 10:30, which was way too late to score seats in my price range.

    Big bummer.

  4. Got front row balcony seats for October 14th, couldn't believe it. Flying in from Minnesota, gonna be a hell of a weekend!

So...I guess we're not getting a new Springsteen album this year.

I didn't get any Broadway tickets, I'm super bummed. My friend's mom is somehow going, though. Congrats to those who did!

Ticketmaster just tweeted that the new shows will go onsale Sept 7th, and if you already registered you don't need to again, but if you did get a code, it will not carry over. You will need a new code.

Okay so I've honestly never really listened to Springsteen. He's not really a big deal over here in the UK at all, so I've never been exposed to him beyond hearing a song of his every year or two on Radio Two.

I heard the song Born To Run in my new office the other day when we (there's five of us in this one web team) put a random playlist on. Damn it was good. As a fan of TGA it felt immediately familiar lyrically. Gonna have to really try give him a go I think.

Had given the song Thunder Road a go like two years ago and wasn't huge on it. Halfway through and I'm seriously vibing with it now.

You don't reckon? He plays stadiums in the UK, headlines Glastonbury etc. He maybe doesn't have the cultural impact that he seems to have in America, but he draws just as big crowds in the UK, plays the biggest venues and stadiums in he country, he's massive here too. I've seen him a few times in stadiums here, always packed.

    Motel. Money. Murder. Madness.

I've always been told the Euro/UK audience is actually more diehard than stateside.

I can't imagine him playing to anything but sold out stadiums over there.

I meant more of his presence here in the mainstream media. The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division, etc are all far more prevalent, whereas you can definitely miss hearing him as I prove.

So holy shit Tunnel of Love, huh? I'd never listened to it before and I think this might be a top 3 Bruce album for me.

Nope. Ones I hadn't heard were...

    Lucky Town
    Tunnel of Love
    Human Touch
We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions

...because the reps were that they were lesser efforts. Now that I know how good Tunnel of Love is, I'll have to dive into the other three and complete the run.

Seeger Sessions is super forgettable for me, I could just never ever get into it.

Tunnel of Love and Lucky Town are both great. ToL could easily be in my top 3 depending on the mood.

Lucky Town is pretty solid. Easily my favorite 90s Bruce album, which isn't saying much, but there you go. Some really great songs on there. Human Touch is...not great, but has a few highlights. We Shall Overcome is inherently a "minor" record in his catalog, but is a lot of fun.

"Valentine's Day" is one of his best songs IMO, and one of my favorites of all time...great album!

Tunnel of Love is better than everything that came after it...but worse than everything that came before it.
