yeah my post was actually pretty dumb re: my reply to John

 

Wait, add Benjamin Gibbard to the list of people who went solo and it just wasn't even close.

 

im pretty sure i have it on my itunes but never really grabbed onto it, maybe ill listen right now

 

Well I've played drums for 16 years and I've gotten pretty good. I say that I hear the parts Brian plays, even on this new album, and know that it's all about choosing what to play when and how, not the difficulty. Song structuring is key to making good songs, and having 4 people all on the same page about how they want their music to come off for 5 albums is insanely rare. It wouldn't be Brand New anymore if they lost one of the 4. Everything they play and do is deliberate, thought out. What you're saying diminishes the value of what they created and put them at the level they're at.

 

Give it a whirl. Songs are short, fast, and agressive.

 

I've made like three dumb posts in the last five minutes, but I like this conversation. No regrets.

Brian fucking kills it live. He’s always adding sick fills, stuff that I would have never thought of before. Also, the the other guy doing aux percusion really adds to everything.

Slightly related: me and my drummer buddy were at their MM show and Brian did the sickest stick flip during Quiet Things. We lost our minds.

Edit: Brian looks over to the other percussionist afterwards who’s laughing hard and Brian just shrugs and continues with the next song. It was great.

 

That Horrible Crowes album kinda disagrees.

 

That new cover album is actually pretty solid. Don’t care for his other solo stuff much though.

 

damn yeah i was just thinking about the solo thing he recently did. Horrible Crowes isnt just Brian though, but yeah that album is unreal

 

"Sugar" is probably my favorite Fallon song ever

 

I'm not here for the slander of the Nate solo album

the second Brandon flowers solo album was way better than any killers record

haha but John for real when i think of Northstar i think of Down To Earth Approach too, maybe just because i had both CDs when i was disgustingly young and id listen to them together but anyway listen to this. it may totally be nostalgia but give it a shot
