I was warming up with the Sowing Season riff and decided to mess around on logic and do a little cover. I think my gf was humoring me when she said she thought it was the FOYD version (there are drums on it) but I still rode that high for most of the day.

I've never heard My Nine rides so that's an easy out. Magazines is a rough one to vote because it's so gross but I played the shit out of that song before I realized what he was actually singing. The melodies were always so good in that one.

What's left on this record is kinda meh for me so I'm just hoping Mix Tape wins the whole thing. That was our jam back in the day.

Soco Amaretto Lime - Brand New is going to stay 18 forever

Seventy Times Seven - Angsty, but man was it relatable to no nothing teenager like myself.

Failure By Design - See above

Logan To Government Center - Probably an even matchup for me, and I want to see that guy eat the cover.

 

Logan is the best song on that album.

 

Twist: He WANTS Logan to win, and is willing to eat the album cover knowing saying he'll do so will make people vote for it

 

Soco - This one isn't even close. One song has some gross lyrics. So it loses.

Mixtape - This one was actually pretty tough. Ultimately, I went with this because the backing "yelling" Jesse in the verses is one of my favorite Brand New things.

Failure by design - I really dig the song musically. I used to play that riff on guitar a lot. I'm pulling for this to win.

Logan - I'm not terribly fond of either song. Logan gets the nod because I don't like the Last Chance chorus and I do like the "you're what makes New England so great" moment.

 

Soco Amaretto Lime - Easy pick. One of my favorites on the album.

Seventy Times Seven - Another one of my favorites. I've probably listened to this five times more than Mix Tape. I enjoy Mix Tape a fair amount but just prefer Seventy Times Seven.

Magazines - Not huge on the lyrics, but I think the last minute or so of the song is really catchy.

Last Chance To Lose Your Keys - I hadn't realized that Logan was such a popular song. Last Chance is another super catchy song that college me listened to a ton 15 years ago. I don't really care if somebody eats a piece of paper ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

Do people really find Magazines lyrics disgusting? I mean I can understand pathetic, but having a fantasy crush is pretty typical of all teenagers.

- Shotgun is hella lame, Soco is hella not-lame. What's there to get.

Mix Tape Vs. Seventy Times Seven
- Someone on here theorized that Mix Tape is about Perks Of Being Wallflower, which is really strange because I heavily associate that book and movie with this band because I read and watched them during my peak Brand New obsession. 70x7 and Mix Tape are both a fun blast of nostlagia to a time in my teens, with Mix Tape getting the edge because I definitely made it a status update when I got broken up with in high school.

Failure By Design Vs. Magazines
- Both tracks I'm pretty middling on, Magazines was fun live the couple of times I've seen it so I'll give that one the edge.

Last Chance To Lose Your Keys Vs. Logan To Government Center
- Logan is easily the best pop punk track Brand New ever wrote. I lived in Boston for two years during college and my mind was blown when I realized the title was a reference to the Blue Line.

 

I don't find them disgusting, just kind of lame as a 31 year old
