This is a really bad post... this is clearly from someone whose never been in a band or understands how writing music works

Let's not sit here an act like Brand New writes out of this world bass or drum parts. But they don't need to, what they do write fits the music perfectly.

But because it's not out of this world, someone else could step in and play the parts perfectly.

Yea but they couldn't write them.. the writing would change

His drumming on Watermelon Ascot is some of my favorite of any song ever. Pale Horses is my personal favorite drum performance from him, which actually plays a lot into why that's my favorite mwY album.

is sic transit not pretty iconic amongst BN fans?

I strongly disagree that 50% of any band could be replaced without any major impact. Can a band survive major lineup changes? Of course. It happens all the time. But a truly great musician - hell, even just a really good one - is not "replaceable." Not in the sense you're talking about. I understand what you're saying, and I think you're wrong.

  7. Do you not see how these two sentences contradict?

  8. This band, working together, make some of my favorite music. But basically you could replace 1/2 of them and no one would notice. Just ... what ... the ...

I can't with you today Blake.

Well, I'm just saying that if a singer leaves you often lose the identity of a band.

If a drummer of bassist leave in most cases the identity is still in tact.

Yes it can be hard on the band going through lineup changes. That's why I'm strictly talking musically, nothing else.

literally days ago we got in a debate about Sic Transit and how you argued they would be idiots not to play it live because bands have to play the hits or theyre doing it wrong.

not days later youre telling me, Garrett, the - one that is the reason for that song being good - is replaceable??

At some point I've gotta accept his stupidity is a bottomless pit because every time I think "well at least he can't say anything more dumb than that" he does it... it's getting exhausting waiting for him it hit rock bottom.

Blake is on another one of those rollercoaster rides of toying with people trust and emotions. You were doing so good for a while there champ!

listen to Brians beat on "Bought A Bride" and listen to it groove with Garretts bass line in the first verse then come talk to me

  15. Yeah, people never lose their minds when the drummer or bassist leave their favorite bands. Those threads are always definitely, completely, tame and boring.

    >BREAKING: Brand New replaces it's drummer and bassist
    >BREAKING: Brand new enters the studio to write a record with the new members
    >BREAKING: Brand New's album was surprised released
    >BREAKING: Blake thinks it's a top 15 album of all time [A realistic opinion that could come out of my mouth]

    >BREAKING: Jesse Lacey quits Brand New
    >BREAKING: Brand new to record new album with new vocalist
    >BREAKING: Brand New's album was surprised released
    >BREAKING: Blake thinks it's garbage. The voice does not fit Brand New, the lyrics are garbage, the emotion isnt there, and Jesse was an irreplaceable singer. [A realistic opinion that would come out of my mouth]

Even if you disagree, it shouldn't be hard to see where I'm coming from.

I guess a good example of this is my favorite band: Blink-182. Their bass parts and guitar parts are not really complex, yet they are still my favorite band ever because their music is insanely fun to me. They don't need complex bass and guitar parts because they make parts that fit the music and it works. That's how I feel about Brand New's drummer and bassist and their parts. They work great in the songs but are not necessarily the most complex, therefore someone else could play them.

Your original argument. It's bad. It's really bad.
