Alright gang, I found a guitar teacher. He seems cool. He charges $25 per half hour. Id assume that lessons are 1 half hour a week. Is this the standard? Should I do it?

I know you are being sarcastic but people use this for real and it's so annoying because in most cases the drummer and bassist are replaceable. Where as a voice sounds totally different.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

Going to ease off SciFi for this weekend, haven't listened to anything else since it came out. Batter Up's weight is making it progressively harder to listen to.

A few of you mentioned Turnover. RIYL?

There are exceptions but the point I'm making is that people can always learn the bass parts and drum parts. There are exceptions like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers where you can notice a sylistic difference in those parts or in the case of Avenged Sevenfold having a drummer people think are the best ever. But you can replace bassists/drumers/sometimes guitarists and replicate the same parts.

Now something that can never be replace is a unique singers voice. You won't find another voice like Tom stylistically. It will always feel different listening to Blink-182 without him. You can't replace the voice of Chester Bennington. If Linkin Park chosen to continue as a band it will not be the same because no one can replace Chester's voice. If Jeese quit Brand New after Daisy but BN wanted to continue it would not feel the same with a different singer, no one could replicate Jesse's style, lyrics, voice, and emotion. If the bassist or drummer left? It would feel the same music wise. It might feel different because we are hard core fans but it won't sound different.

I think Saves the Day is an example where switching out bass and drums made a very noticeable difference in terms of style and overall sound.

You know a very large number of band members track their material after the drummer has scripted the song time structures and all of his parts first, right...?

I can only think of 2 bands off the top of my head who's face of the band were the drummers: The Word Alive and Blink-182 now that Tom is gone.

    Read my post above.

I realize what you said happens. I also realize in most cases that any drummer can do that for a band.

    Let's agree to disagree

And that's not what I'm even arguing this time

    Tom was literally replaced.

  19. Darren King, Bill Stevenson, Lillian Maring, Chris Bear, Ben Koller ... I can think of quite a few who are larger than life and virtually define the sound of the band.

  20. I know you're saying other dumb stuff again, that's why it's way more fun to ignore it.

I Google Donovan Melero and some business came up first

From purely an outsiders perspective of someone who doesn't listen to Hail the Sun, that seems sketchy to call them the face of the band if they don't even come up first on a Google search

I don't think he is an amazing bassist, but imagine a Fall Out Boy without Pete Wentz.

Wait Travis is the face of Blink and not Mark?

But purely music wise, wouldn't a replacement be able to replicate all of what they do?

Where as if these bands got new singers they would sound different, correct?
