Inventorying all my records today. Updating my discogs, and is it worth it (I guess for insurance purposes) to take photos of everything?

Hey! So I just set up the record player that has been sitting in my closet for a couple years. Don't ask me why it took me so long to set it up because I really don't have a good answer. However, I writing this post now to say that I will inevitably come to this thread with a lot of dumb questions about record players and vinyl and all that jazz. I am a complete and utter novice.

Butttttttttt for tonight I am going to give my copy of TDAG a celebratory spin.

Can't believe Hiding Inside The Horrible Weather and Pollyanna BOTH went up for pre-order today. Those are two of the longest standing albums I've been waiting for pressings of. Really bummed I missed the MAH one -- to be totally honest, I didn't think they were big enough to have to worry about that selling out as quickly as it did.

 

MAH went up two days ago. They did say more would be online though in fall.

 

been on huge Weakerthans kick recently, I need a copy of Left and Leaving now asap

is it just black 180 g?

 

I don't even see anything about it being 180g.

 

btw I'm not sure if anyone was ever a phantom planet fan, but I liked their brand of pop music a lot, and their pressing of the guest last year is one of the coolest looking albums ever imo. I guess they didn't have as big of a following as I thought as these were /500 and never sold out

Crazy, I remember when this went up! Very surprised it hasn't sold out yet, California was such a huge song. Raise The Dead is easily my favorite record of theirs though

Alright! This is what I'm working with. The turntable itself is a JVC L-A55. I have no clue if that's a good, great, or terrible player, but I played TDAG and B&C's Separation today and thought they both sounded pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing, but for a beginner set-up I think it'll suffice. I also learned about cleaning records today, so I'd consider that a successful start to my vinyl career!

 

At least it ain't a Crosley.
